Bonnie still has trust issues. She has been here at CBB for 8 months, but still needs her reassuring hugs to relax.

Skittles, Momo and Strawberry, our latest acquisitions. First two are BLM with terrible feet and difficult behavior around their feet. First trim after a week with us. Both were happier after. They aren’t nearly done but already feel so much better. Strawberry is not a BLM (we had her dad here three years ago), she is four years old and has never had her feet done but LOOK HOW PERFECT THEY ARE!! Pretty amazing! ***os

Idk if we ever posted this article from 2022 so I will just do it now.

It’s hard not to find the curious, fuzzy-eared equids endearing. Many do. But they can also mow down vegetation, stomp on the homes of native species and even disrupt military operations.

First session with this wonderful trio. We are so grateful they were never abused or treated wrongly. What a difference it makes!! They will need work but they are open to learning and trusting.

After sending 5 b***os to new homes in the last month, we picked up 3 new projects today. Two were originally from BLM and the third a 4 year old domestic jenny. All seem happy and excited by their new home for a few months.

Forest and Oliver went home today. My heart always hurts having to say goodbye to donkeys but knowing they will be loved and handled with respect makes it all worth it.

Today has been a big first time feet day for two of our projects. Oliver, the ten year old BLM b***o got finally confident enough to let us touch and clean his feet.
For Bonnie, the roping victim that came to us in April, and apparently had never had her feet done, it was HUGE! Her hooves were gigantic, long, twisted, and full of old abscess holes. Her trauma has been difficult to deal with but today, John trimmed all four feet (no, without sedation and untied!). While John was trimming the last (back) hoof and I was holding her head and comforting her, she started drooling. After we were done the drooling got even stronger, out of her mouth and her nostrils. It was incredible. Her gestures were unknown to us and very weird. I had to take videos. Talking to a Masterons BodyWork practitioner and dear friend, Maike, we agreed in it being a huge refief for her body after such a long time in the wrong posture. We like to believe we made a difference for Bonnie and she will start being more comfortable and confident. Yay to kindness!!
