CJ and YJ are some of the resident DJs at The Back Bar in Hamilton.
And these two are quickly becoming one to watch in the culture of beats and hybrid trap music in Aotearoa. The pair hail from Malaysia and have brought their spice pallets together to form TOFUSHOP who hold down a highly sought after residency slot at The Back Bar in Hamilton. Regular features on key support slots for the likes of Virtual Riot, Modestep, Rickyxsan, UZ, Oski and Hydraulix - Their most recent achievement, booked to open for the man - Quix at The Factory.
2020 has seen the pair step into the studio releasing Vol. 1 of the ‘TOFUSHOP TAKEAWAY Edit Pack’ which the rinse heavily in their 808 bass fuelled sets. COVID-19 gifted the boys a shot to have their ‘Locked-down and Loaded’ mixtape feature on George FM and their soundcloud is stacked with unique flips, most recently a ‘RE-HEAT’ of ‘Virtual Self - Eon Break’ which caught the attention of US trap don Ricky Remedy, coining the flip ‘FIRE’.
Whether it’s an order of late night Malaysian cuisine or a rolling 808 set sliced with hip hop edits, cuts and quick genres switches - TOFUSHOP deliver - Extra spicy.
