As the first would have it, the dahlias are done for the season. Frost comes and overnight we go from blooming to done.

Swipe to clear my garden. (If only it was that easy!)

And small side note, the blooms are done. For now. While these plants bloomed and gave literal life all summer long, they were also reproducing tubers and storing up life for next season. So while they were growing in the here and now, they were also storing up experience, energy and potential for new growth in the future. There’s a lot to unpack there.

It’s been a great growing season. So much beauty brought into my home and shared with others.

I’m grateful.

End of season is always a little bittersweet. It takes a lot of effort to grow those beauties. The end of the season marks the end of flower production, and also a time of rest (for the tubers AND me).

I’m learning to live in each season, enjoy it for what it is, and not get ahead of myself into the next season. It’s probably a life lesson the garden will continue to allow me to practice.

For today, enjoy these end of season blooms and the patch of ground that supports them. If it frosts tonight, we’ll find ourselves in the next season tomorrow.

Literally sitting in the dahlia patch prepping for end of season, which is such a bittersweet time.

I 🧡fall! AND I love my dahlias blooming. But the first frost will bring about the end of blooms.

Today I’m making sure all my dahlia plants are labeled because once it frosts everything turns black overnight. Don’t want a bunch of mystery tubers for next season!

A sweet little bouquet for the side table. I love a splash of color in the room.

Would love your opinion and help on this! If you were to do a bouquet subscription, would you prefer to receive your flowers wrapped in paper or in a mason type jar?

I can see it both ways, there are positives and opportunities both ways.

Which would you prefer?

Even though I have a garden full of flowers in my backyard, I still LOVE to be the recipient of flowers! My sweet hubby sent these to me at work today in celebration of our 30 years of marriage. (He’s amazing and thoughtful!) I feel so loved, the smell is absolutely amazing and they are so pretty to look at. All of which just brings all the good feels.

Don’t mind me if I carry them around with me to keep all that close! (Haha!)

Yesterday’s snow brought an opportunity to make a little snow lady. Holding flowers of course.

Oh. And I just purchased some new dahlia tubers of types I’ve never grown before. Getting excited to bring them to life this summer!
