Hi, I’m Karen Scott, and I’m one of the co-owners of I Do Love a Rental.

Jessica and I want to tell you a little bit about us, and thought it would be fun to talk about OUR weddings! 😊

I’ve been married to my husband, Bill, for 27 years. We have three children, Billy(24), Sydney (24), and Ashley (19).

I was married in April 1997, and we had our reception at the Delaney House in Holyoke, MA. Fun fact- I used to work there through college, and worked hundreds of weddings!

Something That Went Wrong on Our Wedding Day: Our dj did not have our wedding song, and it poured!

Things happen, so we just rolled with it! We picked another song, and our photos that were supposed to be taken at Mount Holyoke College were taken at the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round instead. We both spent a lot of time on that merry-go-round as children at Mountain Park amusement park, so in the end it was very nice.

Best Wedding Advice: Just roll with it!

Now I look back and am happy I had my “new” wedding song (Celine Dion “Because You Loved Me”), and love my wedding photos at our beloved childhood merry-go-round!

We had a fabulous Sunday at the The Red Barn at Hampshire College Winter Tasting! Thank you to them for having us!

We enjoyed meeting all of the couples, and sampling the delicious food from Seth Mias Catering!

HANDS DOWN, THE BEST ADVICE I RECEIVED WHEN PLANNING MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING...

My name is Jessica, and I am one of the owners of "I Do" Love a Rental. As I was planning my daughter's wedding, I received a valuable piece of advice that I'd like to share with you: "Pick your top three."

The concept behind "picking your top three" is simple yet powerful. It involves identifying the three most important aspects of the wedding for those who are integral to the planning process. For my daughter, her fiancé, and myself (as we were contributing financially), we each chose our top three priorities. For me, it was high-quality food, great music and dancing, and memorable photographs. My daughter had her own priorities, and her fiancé had his as well.

This approach not only helped us understand each other's values and expectations, but it also allowed us to focus our budget on the elements that truly mattered most to each of us. By identifying and aligning on our top three priorities, we were able to make more informed decisions and create a wedding that everyone would cherish.
