As I prepare myself to do a photo shoot of one of my all-time favorite authors and illustrators Beatrice Potter, I thought it would be really cool to start, sharing some information about her.
At first like to say that she indeed is a true icon in children’s literature.
Here are some key facts about her life and career:
- Beatrix Potter was born in London, England on July 28, 1866.
- She was a gifted artist and writer, and created some of the most beloved characters in children's literature, including Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.
- Potter's books were known for their beautiful illustrations, which she often based on her own observations of animals and nature.
- In addition to her writing and illustrating, Potter was also a passionate conservationist and worked to preserve the English countryside.
- Potter's books continue to be popular today, and her legacy as a children's author and illustrator is widely celebrated.
If you're interested in learning more about Beatrix Potter, I'd recommend checking out some of her books or visiting the Beatrix Potter Gallery in the Lake District, England, where you can see original illustrations and learn more about her life and work.
First, I would like to thank Carolina Spark Magazine & Sybil Todd for allowing me to bring to life the vision I had to honor my dad‘s memory and the deep influence that he had on my life, especially in the area of knowing how to deal with loss.
How women deal with loss in their lives became a focus of mine shortly after losing my dad to cancer.
I have dealt with loss in other areas of my life, but the loss of a parent was a new terrain that I had to learn to navigate.
This led me down a path of remembrance and creativity.

Updated Model call :Persian Inspired Alice in Wonderland -
Well, it seems like Alice in Wonderland has been quite popular in Persian culture, with multiple translations and adaptations available!
There are several Persian translations of Lewis Carroll's original novel, including versions by Pirzad and Honarmandi, as well as an animated television series inspired by the story.
It's fascinating to see how the story has been interpreted and reimagined in different cultures and languages!
With that being said, this is what’s going to inspire the Alice in Wonderland photo shoot that I’ve been asked to style and shoot this fall.
We have an Alice chosen, but we are looking for a model to be Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter.
I had the opportunity to work with the lovely Nataly Martinez Montoya!
Believe it or not this photo was taken on top of a garage in downtown Asheville
I’ll be releasing more of those photos in the very near future.

As an artist, I’m always looking for ways to grow my art form.

As I’m sitting at High Climate Tea having my afternoon pot of tea I am dreaming all things Beatrice Potter.

Not only are her stories some of my all-time favorites, but I’m obsessed with her art!
I am good you have filtered water by any chance a little glass of filtered water, I’m pretty sure I’m getting ready to redo my kitchen, choosing my color palette from her artistic flare.
I actually recently went into a bookstore and asked where their Beatrice Potter books were the girl that was waiting on me had no idea who she was! Yikes!!!

One of the things that I absolutely hate is getting sick or dealing with some kind of medical emergency!
I wanted to hop on here this morning and say thank you to those of you who have been praying for me as I have been trying to figure out what has been causing so many issues with my stomach.
It’s so scary when you’re having procedures done to rule out things and you really don’t even want to talk about it!
One of the things that I am having to face is my addiction to sugar.
I gave up caffeine almost a year ago. Now I’m in the process of giving up sugar and addressing the food that I put into my body.
With the help of my doctor I am on a program that addresses nutrition and diet and boy can bad food really wreck your digestive track, and a course put a lot of weight on you if you’re not careful.
I have been very fortunate to have great health for the most part, but our bodies are constantly changing and we have to readjust to accommodate those changes.
So now I’m on a new journey, a journey to a better me.
So this morning, I wanted to share one of my black-and-white photos that has my favorite flower in it the Daisy!
As I move forward in this journey of a better me, I want to remind myself this morning as well as you to take care of yourself.
Be kind to yourself and don’t self medicate with putting bad things into your body.
After losing my dad, that’s exactly what I did, actually I’ve been doing that for the past three years just dealing with different life stressors.

Cinderella is a folk tale that is present in many forms with thousands of stories that feature a young person who is in tragic circumstances and living off the charity of others. Her fortune changes as she attracts the attention of a nobleman, who must search in some way to find out her identity. When found, Cinderella becomes the spouse of royalty, while her family member get their reward for cruelty. Often there is a presence of magical items or beings to help Cinderella gain her fortune. The first written occurrence of the Cinderella tale, in Europe, comes from an Italian named Giambattista Basile in 1634. It is one of the stories in the Pentamerone, along with recognizable versions of Rapunzel, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, and Hansel and Gretel. Basile was the first person to commit oral traditional stories to the written word. His tale about Cenerentola (Cinderella) included a wicked stepmother, evil sisters, losing her shoe, magic, and a nobleman who south the owner of the shoe. Charles Perrault, from France, wrote the story of Cinderella that is best known in its translated English version. Perrault wrote "Histoires ou contes du temps passe" in 1697. This French version includes the pumpkin, fairy godmother, and the glass slipper. It is the version that Walt Disney used to create his Cinderella movie in 1950.
