Dahlia Snoho Les stole my heart! This is the first year I grew this beauty and I’ll definitely be growing her for many years to come. Who else has a soft spot for variegated blooms?

Today I put on my big girl pants and braved the garden! For those of you that missed it, my flower field was taken over by rattlesnakes last month. I removed an entire row of bronze snap dragons that was providing a great hiding spot for said rattlesnakes. I’m happy I was able to overcome my fear, now I have a safe spot to try and label my dahlias from. Yay!

Fat, skinny, curvy, tall, short, bruised, broken….. Dahlia tubers don’t care what we call them, they all bloom into beautiful flowers. I often wonder why humans feel the need to label everything. How beautiful would the world be if we pivoted our thoughts from labels, to viewing every being as having the opportunity to bloom into something magnificent? I finally got my tulips planted this weekend! I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to offer tulips this year. My bulbs got misplaced by my wholesaler and then lost twice by UPS. One of the last harvests of the season, it’s so bitter sweet. Soon our first freeze will be upon us and our flower season will come to an end. Until then, I’ll be spending every free second with the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds in the flower garden.
