When it comes to confetti… gone are the days that you pelted raw rice (or even sticky cooked rice if you were that way inclined) at the couple as they walked back down the aisle.
That is a no no on soooo many levels now! It’s not good for the birds or the poor couple finding it in all their crevices on the honeymoon 😬
Yes there are rose petals and ecofetti… but why not pop some corn and get your guests all corny as they toss happiness your way.
NB: the birds don’t need it salted or buttered. They like it o’naturale!

Whilst we don't think this method of application will quite suit your wedding plans, slip slop slapping is still a must for your summer ceremony!
Ceremonies usually fall during peak UV time, so even on a grey day you'll still get hit with the sun's harmful rays. Make sure you apply before the ceremony, and also before you head to portraits...hey we've even been known to help with sunscreen application post ceremony! Don't forget your guests too and make sure you have some pump packs or roll -ons handy at major points like the bar and the toilets.
For those wearing make-up don't stress, chat to your make-up artist as there are so many amazing products now that allows you to protect your skin under your make-up. For those not needing make-up skills, well...don't forget you can even get clear zinc now!

On those hot summer days make sure you have lots of fluids readily available for yourselves, your guests, your crew and your vendors too!
Water, juice boxes, ice blocks all easy to serve and sip on during a hot ceremony!
Because at the end of the day we’d much prefer a slurping crowd ready to be engaged and hit the party later than a flat, drained bunch who topple over cause they’re too hot!

Have a rehearsal at the time of your ceremony at least a day or two out.
The old rehearsal gets a bad rap a lot nowadays, but it’s not what most imagine it is and in the peak of summer it really is a must!
Why?
Imagine standing there on your wedding day to find that the tree you chose to stand under to for shade actually drips sap straight on your décolletage mid afternoon as the hot sun beams down.
Or that the spot you thought was perfect for your guests to sit actually puts the sun direct into their eyes or the path you’d dreamed of walking goes through a nest of fire ants?
If you had that rehearsal, or walk through, site visit…whatever you want to call it…you would know exactly what you’re dealing at the actual time of the wedding.
During this time we don’t go through the whole ceremony, just the choreography. We go through the walk, who is standing where and who agrees to have the sun in their eyes etc… and leave all the other parts under wraps for the big day.
That way if you need to make changes or get extra help or supplies, then you have the time to do that, BEFORE all your vendors rock up the next day.
Plus, your celebrant always know how to turn it into a celebration and when you know all that staging is taken care of, you can tick that box, relax and actually enjoy the moment on the big day!

So from the moment you wake up in the morning, ditch ‘em and let your eyes acclimatise to the sunshine. That way you won’t be squinting in your ceremony and you can always play with the shades for some cool shots in your portraits later!
