It has been quite some time since I've posted to share updates or advertise my business model for Ford & Co. I guess it's because the mission and values that I initially created for Ford & Co. didn't settle in my heart. Although I appreciate the enthusiasm and referrals that I have received, I've decided not to continue with a "for-profit" business. Service to others is what truly makes my heart feel full. With today being National Philanthropy Day, I was moved to share an exciting change in the direction for Ford & Co.
As many of you know, my world has been touched by childhood cancer through the lens of my daughter, Alexandra, who is a pediatric oncology nurse. For the past three years, I have learned so much about resiliency and courage, hope and despair. Early on I struggled with finding my purpose in Alexandra’s career. Understanding full well the confidentiality she must ensure left me feeling helpless. Wanting desperately to bring comfort to a grieving mother or joy to a sick child was not possible. I realized that my purpose is to love her through the many experiences she will have and support her as she cares for the children and their families. I also believe that I'm here to remind her that her commitment to childhood oncology is so much more than a career, it's a calling. I listen intently to her share experiences, soothe her aching heart with each child who passes away and celebrate the victories of remission and miraculous healing. Yet still, I feel I have an even greater purpose. I have room in my heart and a strong desire to do more.
I will soon be developing a new mission, new goals, and objectives for Ford & Co. that will be deeply rooted in providing support to the children and families who are touched by childhood cancer. Joining my love of planning celebrations with my deeply rooted desire to extend my hand in service to others, I will be creating a plan that will provide end-of-chemo parties for children who battled this fight and are finally able to leave a long hospital stay or conclude frequent visits to the clinic. I Invision an opportunity to work together with families to plan the most memorable, exciting, and filled with hope and love celebration for a child whose brave fight against this horrible disease has been won.
I will focus my planning on a child's favorite color and characters, their favorite foods and desserts, and their favorite music or sporting team. With a guest list that includes their family, friends, and community supporters, I hope to give children a celebration to look forward to.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin to explore the many possibilities ahead of me. I will be considering all the legal steps necessary to drive the work, including funding sources and collaboration with other businesses. I welcome your ideas and your input and will share more over this year as my vision becomes clearer.
Thank you for your continued support and inspiration.
Much love,
Jackie xo ♥️
