This fundraiser supports Karsten Hamre, a Norwegian experimental musician and multimedia artist renowned for his contributions to dark ambient, drone, and industrial music. Known for projects like Penitent, Veiled Allusions, Defraktor, and Dense Vision Shrine, Karsten’s haunting and atmospheric soundscapes delve into themes of melancholy, isolation, and the supernatural.

Since moving to the Philippines, Karsten has enriched our local music scene with unforgettable performances, sharing his immense talent and passion.

Recently, Karsten underwent a life-saving tracheostomy to remove a mass obstructing his breathing. While the surgery was successful, he now faces significant medical expenses, including the cost of the procedure, medical supplies, and ongoing treatment for recovery.

Discovered this band alongside Happy Mondays during the time Acid House was big in Manchester, England. Described as neo-psychedelic by a music journalist in TIME magazine and DJ Mag sometime in the early '90s. I got my first copy from Toti D's shop at Vernida Building after winning a MUTE Records sampler, which included tracks from them and a few other bands like Erasure, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and Renegade Soundwave.

Had an interesting convo while recovering from the flu, and it got me thinking. Punk's anti- establishment vibe from the late 60s to the 80s really mirrors earlier counterculture movements. Social unrest, political instability, economic collapse-history repeats, especially after a certain treaty that left a country in ruins. It's wild how these cycles keep coming back like war and rebuilding comes every turn of the century.

Thanks, Rosli M. Ali, for sharing... For some reason, I haven't felt the urge to listen to The Cure lately, until this pinch of a reminder of yours. In fact, Robert and The Cure's music are among the few I’ve always felt a deep affinity for while growing up. I sort of started with their music, along with a few others which truly changed my life. ❤ I remember The Caterpillar being a day starter on my way to school. :)
