Here's a little real world advice from some recent newly weds Margherita and Tom:

"We highly recommend a first look - we were unsure and this is something that our photographer recommended. The day goes SO fast and it gave us a chance to take it all in, settle the nerves and spend some time with the bridal party! It didn’t change walking down the aisle or how we felt at the ceremony at all!"

I love this advice from them, as often couples are nervous if it will take away from some of the magic of the isle walk... but imagine feeling relaxed and not nervous at all... then you can enjoy the day even more!

Great advice from so they could be as relaxed as possible..( and get their location shots done before the ceremony so they could get straight into the party!).

Real Wedding Hiccup:

This first stunning shot is by of a wedding I flowered a little while back...

The couple were amazing in every way and had a vision for their tables... black dinner candles on smart metallic holders with simple blooms around them.

After our first floral concept meeting, I sent them to to source the candles and informed them they would need to double check with the venue the naked flame would be ok.

They got permission and we set up everything as planned. It looked amazing!

However...

When it came time to light the candles, in turned out some of the clusters were in the direct draft of the air-con. The air flow kept blowing out these candles, it wasn't an option to move their position, so some remained unlit all night.

Lesson:

Just because it is indoors does not mean you are immune to drafts. (we didn't realise this before as no one had had exposed candles on this table before)

Did it ruin the wedding?

NO

But, did we learn a lesson?

YES

Protect those tapers or dinner candles in glass sleeves and you will have uninterrupted ambience.

Check out the second image for an example of hurricane candle sleeves.

Wedding signage is definitely amazing and can add that extra special detail to your day.
But it’s also something that many couples cut back on when they need to keep their budget in check.

So which ones to keep and which ones to pass on?

Our advice:
Choose pieces that will be most helpful to your guests on the day, not only what will look great in photos.

For instance, if you have paid for a spirits bar, many of your guests may not realise, so a sign like this one from .com.au will help your guest know their options when they are at the bar (very helpful to ensure you get most out of your pre paid drinks package).

However, if your venue provides table service and not many guest will be walking up to the bar, skip it and put the info on your table menu.

Signage at the end of the day, is there to be informative (and look amazing!)

Write everything down while you're planning your wedding. Jot down inspiration, save websites, take photos of ideas you love!

Where to keep it all safe? In our Imbue Planner aka your Wedding Bible.

Not only will this little baby go everywhere with you, but we've also printed off our course content so you don't have to. You might want to clear a spot in your bed for this baby to make sure she's always in close reach! (jokes, kinda...)

Course tip //

Are you lusting over a festival vibe for your big day? Keen to throw everyone you love under a marquee and have a big feast? Sounds delish (and fun!) but have you considered your budget?

A marquee wedding on a property means setting up a full kitchen (if it's not already there), and literally bringing everything onto the property. That's right, marquee, portaloos, chairs, tables...you get the drift.

Some venues offer their property for you to add a marquee, yet still have a fully functioning kitchen (and bathrooms) on site.

Just one little way is helping you save time and money planning your wedding.

Weddings are being postponed this weekend in NSW, VIC and SA-

For all our lockdown lovers waiting to tie the knot, here's some things to focus on for the days and weeks ahead (especially if you've had to postpone your wedding):

- Allow yourself some time to feel sh*tty about having to postpone the wedding of your dreams, or sit with the uncertainty of whether your wedding can go ahead. We suggest setting a time limit for this (eg 24 hours), after which you can get into fix-it mode
- Remember why you're getting married in the first place. Use this time to focus on your relationship (even if it's just eating your feelings on the couch together!)

- Do something FUN together - do you have a fave bottle of bubbles you were going to pop at the wedding? Get dressed up at home (matching tracksuit sounds good to us!) and pop that bottle!

Most of all remember, these things are out of your control. And when you finally do walk down the aisle, it'll be the sweetest feeling in the world!

Real bride Lauren recently married Brett (and was thankful to actually go ahead with the wedding thanks to COVID!). When we asked her about what she'd do differently, she said the weather! Now we know, there's not a lot that's within our control when it comes to the weather, but what we can control (and what we talk about a lot in ) is our reaction to things, especially those that we can't control.

"I wish I didn't let it bother me, I let it put a bit of a 'dampner' on the morning but it really didn't effect the day whatsoever, I ended up with the most amazing photos and was still able to get married outdoors undercover!"

The plus for a rainy or cloudy day? Dramatic pics. Just like this one of Lauren and her new husband, Brett. Congrats guys!

COVID Melbourne update: Dance floors are back in Melbourne, yeow! We're so happy for our couples getting married this weekend, they'll be able to have 50 people on the d-floor.

We're thinking of our Sydney friends with lockdown extended for another week. Swipe right to check out our tips on what to say (and what NOT to say) to a couple who have had to postpone their wedding this weekend because of COVID.

We can't wait for weddings to be back to normal all over the country. Bring on more awesome shots like this one by .

Let them eat cake! Let's chat dessert.

A simple way to cut costs (and one that your guests won't even notice) is for your wedding cake to play the role of dessert. After all those cake tastings and umming and ahhing over flavours, isn't it right that your cake gets the credit it deserves?

You'll save on one entire course, your guests will love your cake and you won't end up with a freezer-full of uneaten tiers. Win win!

We're drooling over this creation by the amazing . You cake genius you!

Not sure where to start with your wedding bouquet?

Lucky it's one of our areas of expertise.

Whether you have absolutely no idea or you can spot a David Austin from a Peony (well done you...!), we'll help you figure out if spending the big bucks on flowers is important to you.

We'll also tell you realistically how much it'll cost you to achieve the look you want.

And (hot tip!) forget re-creating your favourite Pinterest board with an entire ceiling of flowers, unless you're happy to take out a second mortgage. Inspo images are great- but you really need to think about your venue, and how the flowers will fill that space and be appreciated by your guests.

Did you or are you planning on writing your own vows? It takes a lot longer than you'd think, so make sure you don't leave it to the last minute, aka the night before.

In , we walk you through how to write your own, there's no need to re-invent the wheel, but you do need to make sure it's reflective of your and your partner.
Couples often get caught up in the party planning that they forget this is what the day is all about... When you declare your love and commitment to one another... and your vowels are how you will show that.

Hot tip: Get them designed and framed as a gift for the first wedding anniversary- like these amazing keepsakes from - two birds, one stone!

Weddings are back in Melbourne! Well...kinda.

While we can now have 300 guests at weddings, however no dancing allowed. We know it's disappointing, but now you don't have to witness Uncle Steve's weird dance moves freaking out your buddies.

And Sydney, we are thinking of you! Very stressful all round!

In all seriousness though, while COVID weddings might not be the wedding you had thought you'd have, remember to stay focused on WHY you're getting hitched in the first place.

And in the meantime, here is a pic of some dancefloor gold, to spur us through until dancing is back- by

We once heard of a brother who was put in charge of planning the music for the bride to walk down the aisle to (no, it wasn't this couple pictured... but trust me this is a true story!).

Thanks to not testing the equipment pre-ceremony, the only song that would work on his phone was Sandstorm.

He tried three times. Luckily a guest came in and saved the day with Spotify, but suffice to say it wasn't the romantic entrance the bride had planned... waiting awkwardly in view of the guests whilst everyone scrambled to fix the music.

There are SO. MANY. DETAILS. that go into planning a wedding, and little things you might not have even considered as a guest....

Like how can you NOT play Sandstorm pre ceremony or how will you get from the venue to your accommodation once the wedding is over (preferably not in the back of a taxi with other guests, let's face it!)?

Luckily someone (that's us!) has thought of the little things, so you don't have to.

We make sure no stone is left unturned to help you have the most stress-free wedding possible, and the best start to your marriage. Because that's why we're all here, right? (that and for the epic party...)

Wondering what the latest is on weddings in Melbourne and Regional Victoria? Well, they're back (kind of)!

As long as you don't want to share the moment with too many people or dance.

Here's what you need to know 👇

Know someone attending a wedding soon? Tag them to make sure they're across the latest. Crossing all our fingers we're back to 'normal' soon.

And because we couldn't help ourselves, we have also listed some of the other restriction levels in place.

We are really feeling for the entire Victorian Wedding Industry.

Even though venues are able to track attendees and enforce density limits (like other hospitality venues and businesses) weddings are at the same limits as social gatherings for the time being 🤷‍♀️

Course tip! In the age of COVID and cancellations (cue sighs), something you might not have thought of (or needed to previously) was whether your venue or videographer can offer livestream services.

Having the option will let your out of town guests get in on the action, and give you a back up plan if (touch wood) you need to limit guest numbers.

Introducing sneak peeks into our course. Each week we'll offer you a glimpse into just some of the things we'll help you think through.

This week, it's all about (one of) the most important wedding decisions - venue.

When you're choosing your wedding venue, think worst case scenario for your weather. Make sure you ask your venue what their wet weather plan is, and most importantly, make sure you're happy with it!

While we'd all love to be saying our 'I do's' under sunny (but not too sunny, just the right amount of sun thanks) skies with a rainbow as a backdrop, reality is this is probably not going to happen (and if it does, lucky you!).

And if your venue doesn't have a wet weather plan? Big alarm bells!
.. not like who have not one, but two undercover ceremony options so you're covered with whatever mother nature throws your way!

You can thank us later.

More tips like this (in fact a STACK of them) included in .

Champagne taste on a beer budget?

Let's talk booze. Are you an open bar kinda wedding or strictly beer, wine and bubbles only?

Here are some simple tips on what you need to know when choosing your drinks list.

1. Think about your guest list
What do your friends enjoy drinking? If they are a cocktail crowd, entertain the idea of a few cocktails on arrival. To keep the budget intact you can keep this to one or two per person then move on to beer and wine.

2. Pair with your food menu
When selecting your drinks menu (in particular your wine) ensure it complements the meals you are serving so it enhances the dining experience for your guests.

3. Consider the time of year
A refreshing mojito on a summers afternoon will be well received, but trying it in winter will see your guests skipping over it and wasting your money. If you're getting married in the cooler months consider mulled wine or cocktails not served on over ice, along with a more extensive red wine menu.

4. Follow the advice from your venue or caterer
They have the experience and have seen weddings of all shapes and sizes, they know what works well and what is well received. Follow their advice on what will pair well, and how many selections to have.

Real bride Shae shares with us four things she’d do differently if she had her wedding to Aaron again:

•Make sure the groom and groomsmen have their suits ironed and ready before the day. My mum ironed Aaron's on the day and burnt it 🤦‍♀️ he then had to call around to find a dry cleaner open.

•Don't try to do everything you see on Pinterest as it takes up a lot of time and people don't noticed it 😄😩
Simple is better and cheaper.

•Snack bags for the bridal party on the day during photos if before food or off site... you will be hungry! 🍬🍿🍪

•Let someone else host brunch the next day and not at your house! It was too much for us to back it up the next day!🥴😴

Thanks for the tips Shae!

Hi 👋, Gill here founder of . As a florist for more than 15 years, you might think my wedding was exactly what I expected/wanted, and while I loved it, I wanted to get real about something I'd change if I did it all again (don't worry husband, you're not it).

Music:

We hired a band that Shaun had heard and loved- they were not a dedicated wedding band, but offered weddings as one of their services... so it was not a new thing for them.

We booked them, gave them some song requests, they gave us a timeline and we thought that was all organised.

They were wonderful whilst they were playing, however between sets they reverted back to the house music that the venue had.
We went from dance floor full and everyone loving it... to slow elevator music for large stretches 😳

Music is so important for the ambience. When this happened throughout the night it really changed the mood and tone of the overall event.

I remember on the night thinking, what a total oversight!! Whilst I didn't expect the musicians to play the entire time (no one can!), I didn't think to ask about what would be played in between.

Before booking your band, ask what happens between the sets and make sure you are happy with the answers.

Most nearlyweds know to wear in their shoes before the big day... but something no one considers is their earrings! !

You spend hours selecting the perfect pair (like these stunners from ) then keep them in a box until the big day.

You NEED to give them a whirl several times before the big day to make sure:

🧡 they don’t give you a reaction
🧡 they are not uncomfortably heavy
🧡 they don’t have a loose clasps or backs
🧡 they don’t continually get tangled in your hair

We don't want you to have wedding regret (or get lumped with a massive debt for the sake of a big party).

Bianca married Luke 6 years ago and if she had her time over, here's what she would have done differently.

“We had a DIY venue, we bought in caterers and had a self service bar. It worked really well for us, until the next morning! PAY FOR CLEANERS! The last thing I felt like doing was heading back to sweep and mop a hall and deal with the rubbish.

Plan a brunch, enjoy the afterglow.
My biggest regret is not delegating more for the sake of saving a few bucks“
