🌿 Keep on being you!! 🌿

One statement I hear from couples all the time is:

"I can't do that. What would my family think? What would my future in-laws think?"

✨️ WRONG ✨️

I'm here to remind you that this is YOUR wedding. This day is to celebrate YOU and the person you love. Here's permission to do what YOU want on your wedding day.

Forget what your opinionated sister says. Forget what your uptight future mother-in-law says. Forget what your very traditional grandma says.

This day is about the TWO OF YOU.

Think of it this way.
It all boils down to one question...

1. Are they paying for your wedding? 🤔

No?
- Then their opinion is irrelevant.

Yes?
-Then they shouldn't have offered to pay with strings attached. That's sh*tty of them.

🌿 So, here's my advice 🌿

Want to skip the big wedding and elope?
- SKIP IT!

Want a destination wedding?
- GO FOR IT!

Want an intimate ceremony with only close friends and family?
- THEY'LL GET OVER IT!

Don't want to get married in a church?
- THEN DON'T!

The biggest regreats I hear from couples are:
1. Not paying for professionals.
2. Trying to please everyone else.

So make your wedding day the way YOU want it! Whatever you decide, it will be amazing. I promise!

Question - "Can we repurpose flowers from the ceremony to the reception?"
There are a lot of variables that will determine if this is possible for your wedding.

Here are a few questions to think about:

1. Is the ceremony and reception at the same location??
--> We are creating a one of a kind arrangement on site. Transporting a delicate assembled arch to an entirely different location is not recommended.

2. Who will be moving the arch??
--> We strongly suggest professional florists move the pieces. In case anything falls out, we are able to fluff and make it like new again.

3. What does your Day Of Timeline look like??
--> As mentioned before, we are making a one of a kind arrangement. This takes a lot of time and skilled hands to complete. If there's an hour or less, we may only be able to relocate an arch and aisle flowers. Not take apart and remake.

To get the most out of your flowers, think about what's really important to you and your partner. Think about the pictures. What do you remember from previous weddings you've attended?

*Hint hint* It likely isn't reception table decor. 😏

"Floral Installations? What is that?" 🤔

Floral installations are large floral statement pieces that are usually attached to something and assembled on site.

Examples:
- Ceremony Arch
- Flower Clouds
- Fireplace Mantle
- Greenery Chandelier
- Greenery wrapped pillars, railings, beams, etc.
- Ceremony Circle
- Photo Booth
- Greenery Wall
- Tablescape
- Aislescape
- So much more...

These items have gained a lot of popularity recently, with good reason. They are STUNNING!

One thing to keep in mind when it comes to statement pieces is the price tag.

Budgeting for installations comes down to 3 parts...
☝🏼 Size
✌🏻 Labor involved
🤟🏼 Florist's experience

We often need 2-3 people PER installation to assemble them on-site.

If you're wanting:
- Ceremony Arch
- Table centerpieces + candles
- Flower Cloud for the reception
- All to be done by your 3:30 start time?

You're looking at a florist team of 4-6 people on site. Especially of your venue has a short setup time frame.

ALSO, you'll need to keep mind your venue's AND planner's teardown policies. Many require the florist to come back that for teardown, as they aren't responsible, nor do they want to tear down floral decor.

Here at Huldra, we are firm believers in
'Less but Better.'

🌲 The meaning of Huldra 🌲

In honor of our 5th birthday, I figured I'd tell the story of Huldra and how our business got its name.

HULDRA
ˈhʊld.ra, [ˈhʊld.rɐ̞]

English pronunciation - hul•dra

I named my business Huldra because of my deep connection to my Scandinavian heritage, my love for wild places, folklore, and storytelling.

Much of our Scandinavian culture are oral stories passed down from one generation to the next. One of my favorite stories is of the Huldra.

She goes by many names - Huldra, Skogsrå (forest spirit), Tallamaja (Pine Tree Mary), Ulda, Råndan, etc. The root meaning of her name is "secret."

Her appearance slightly differs from one story to the next. Some featuring antlers, tails, and even tree bark. But across all myths, she is portrayed as a beautiful woman with long golden hair, often wearing a crown of flowers. She wanders the forests surrounding human settlements.

There are many fascinating legends across Nordic and Germanic cultures about the Hulder, both before and after Christianity was adopted.

One thing remains consistent. She lures unmarried men deep into the forest. Those who follow her are never seen again...

Her exact intentions after bringing him there vary greatly depending on the myth, culture, and religion. Mostly due to her secretive nature.

I'll let you decide which story to believe. 😉

❄️ A florist's seasons ❄️

During the winter months, especially here in Wisconsin, it is a time for rest.

The plants are taking a break, many birds have migrated, and a handful of animals are in hibernation...

As a wedding florist, it may seem like we go into hibernation, too. But in our hibernation, there's still a lot of work to be done.

For wedding florists, there are two seasons:

1. Wedding Season
2. Engagement Season

🌿 During wedding season, I get to bring to life all the things I've been envisioning all winter long.

❄️ During the engagement season, I get to meet new cpuples and dream up all new designs.

So, while I'm hibernating for the winter, know that I'm dreaming about next year's creations. ☺️

🌿 Florist Hot Takes 🌿

During this amazing wedding, I had a really good conversation with the gals at that really hit my soul...

After a few hours of working our butts off, the team at Huldra made absolutely INCREDIBLE floral installations. Total Pinterest wedding come to life.

But in reality, they don't exist outside of that event. Those flowers will only live in the minds and memories of the people who attended the event. The whole day will soon be a distant memory that will blur over time.

It's the job of Photographers to capture that moment in time and share that incredible event with the world.

That's why I am a firm believer that your flowers aren't sh*t without a good photographer. 🔥

A good photographer isn't just taking pictures. They capture concrete evidence that your wedding was AMAZING. They dictate how the whole wedding will be remembered. They tie the whole vibe of the day together.
