As promised some BTS photos of wedding flower prep for my brother and Lucys wedding in gorgeous Jersey. Most of you know now I've been unwell so it was all hands on deck. Our faces are full on concentration mode but we were having fun...honest.

Lucy's sister opened her gorgeous home, , to use as a work space for two days. The first day we conditioned every stem and left them to hydrate overnight. The following day we had a mammoth 9 bouquets, 30 bud vases and 4 boutonnieres to create.

done a fantastic job of the buttonholes and and done fantastically with the THIRTY colourful bud vases.

There were tears of joy when seen the end result and that was a measure of success for our Jersey flower team.

Vibrant flowers for a vibrant couple, my brother and sis in law, who married in vibrant jersey on Thursday.

Happy 1st of May, Labour day for all the workers.

I have a cheeky day off after a lovely time celebrating my 1st anniversary with my husband and a lovely christening yesterday.

I'm admiring these perfectly captured photos by of Jen and Chris wedding day at Easter. Blooming Gallus had the pleasure of flowering this special day.

Day 30 ~ sustainibility

This is a controversial topic in the world of floristry and even more so with rising costs of gas for commercial growers, world politics and better knowledge of environmental impacts.

Do we use floral foam? Yes
Do we use plastic wrap? Yes
Are we trying to improve as we learn? Yes

Some changes we are trying to make as we become more aware of these issues include using multi use beakers as a water source when transporting your flowers. Paper wrap instead of plastic. Wire mechanics instead of foam.

What can you do to make your wedding more sustainable?

Have vase arrangements for your centre pieces.

Garlands instead of foam arrangements.

Repurpose ceremony flowers throught the day.

Use bridesmaids bouquets to brighten your top table.

Day 28 ~ whilst we work

We get the tunes on and both love a bit of for those strong woman motivating lyrics. We also have the munchies on standby and usually a cheeky wee take away to fuel the final power hour.

Day 27 ~ Motivation

Ooh good one. I suppose this boils down to a couple of things.

You. Our biggest want is to deliver the most perfect flowers for you and see that wee sparkle in your eye when you hold your bouquet.

Us. Improves mood, spend time with each other and let our creative juices flow.

Day 26 ~ Tools

Life before these guys was pure elbow grease and hulk strength to condition the likes of thick woody king protea and foliages.

These bad boys are an absolute hand/time/life saver especially for they stubborn stems. These quickly became the alpha tool in our collection.

Close second are my pink snips from All for Love with the sharpest blades and easy to spot among the carnage of green.
Some other tools that make an appearance during wedding season are wires in different gauges, T pins, wrist bands, water test tubes, chicken wire, tape, floristry glue and the list goes on and on and on and on.

There's more to this malarky than "playing with flowers" ya know 😜

Day 25 ~ Growing

We don't shy away from identifying a training need and seeking out training with some of Glasgow finest to master our designs for you.

After gaining our City & Guilds qualification in floristry we continued to learn with talanted florists Lorraine , Nick Emma and Carole

We find it so enjoyable and a worthwhile investment in ourselves and I think the proofs in the pudding even if I do say so myself 😜 the fourth photo onwards are from our college days.

Day 23 ~ top tips

Let chat guest tables.

How much time have you spent trying to decide on centre pieces? Probably a lot longer than you ever thought right?

Does your venue have high ceilings? Consider an elevated arrangement paired with some items on the table to catch the eye of your guests such as a garland, bud vases and candles.

If your venue has low ceilings consider opting for low floral table arrangements. A few options includes floral arrangements in a footed vase, jam jars, bud vases or a trio of candles dressed with foliage or even have vases ready for the bridesmaids to pop their bouquets in.

Top tip for the DIY brides - allocate a box or tub per table. Give yourself plenty of time to polish candle sticks, cutlery, tea light holders and add these to the boxes along with any candles and pressed linen. These jobs can be done months in advance, you do not want to leave this to the week of your wedding. It will be less stress on the day, for you and your helpers, to have everything you need ready to lay out.

Money saving tip - add a coloured table runner to level up your design without the additional cost of more blooms.

Day 22 ~ Behind the scenes.

It's gotta get messy before it gets magic.

Tunes on, debating snacks while bringing a vision to life.

When we're not working on weddings we're usually working at the day job, looking after our demanding pups, we're regular visitors to Bowfield Hotel & Country Club (kidding ourselves on that we're healthy), running our homes, seeing friends & family and basically trying to adult without having a nervous breakdown 😅

Day 20 ~ Collaboration.

This styled shoot was a highlight of 2022 for us and even got us featured in Tie the Knot Wedding mag.

Nicola Jeffrey Photography brought together a bunch of newbies to the industry to collaborate this styled shoot. She really is some woman. If you're still looking for a photographer please check Nicola out. I've tagged some of the amazing suppliers we met on the day.

Day 19 ~ the design process.

Our couples tend to be on a scale of having a rough idea of what they'd like to knowing 100% exactly what they want.

Cara approached us wanting all the pastel colours and something for her ceremony. We pretty much had free artistic reign on this wedding and it was an absolute dream.

We also incorporated cornflower to Caras bridal bouquet in memory of her gran. This was such a lovely thoughtful touch from Cara.

Before booking your florist first of all look at their social media and see if you love their style. Florists vary in style so it is important to do this. It's a way of knowing that you're going to love your wedding flowers on the day.

We'd also recommend creating a pinterest board and sharing this with your florist.

Once we have a clear idea of your vision we start planning the best selection of foliage, flowers and mechanics to execute the concept.

We love all things weddings and are so excited to flower those we have booked in this year 💗 so many friends and family are drafting us in to assist with their florals 🙌🏻

Day 17 ~ Dreams

So I'm using this as an opportunity to throw out to the universe two dream flowery wishes that I'd love to get my fingers on.

In no particular order...

Adorn the row boat at with lots of stunning flowers and foliage for a bridal or engagement shoot.

Create floral arrangements that are used on a TV show. Are there any weddings coming up

Also, see if your Mrs is a florist and loves flowers and is a dog maw, please send her flowers this Mothering Sunday and every other occasion.

Day 12 ~ working with us 🤩

We're nosey. We want to know all the plans and little details. Spill the tea, tell us if there's a thing with the best man and the MOH 🧐. You'll be sailing into married life and we'll be missing chatting weddings with you.

This year alone we have declined 108 enquiries! 108 😱 .

We put so much of ourselves into each and every wedding, from initial consultations right through to dressing down the venue the following day and we don't want to give any less, and that means being exclusive to a small number of couples. We are buzzing that you would even consider us to bring your vision to life.

Picking a colour scheme can be difficult but it will help everything look cohesive on your big day. Look for inspiration in firstly in your own personal taste, the venue and the season when choosing a colour.
