Leo Messi not staying at FC Barcelona

Despite club and player reaching an agreement and their clear intention to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles

Despite FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi having reached an agreement and the clear intention of both parties to sign a new contract today, this cannot happen because of financial and structural obstacles (Spanish Liga regulations).

As a result of this situation, Messi shall not be staying on at FC Barcelona. Both parties deeply regret that the wishes of the player and the club will ultimately not be fulfilled.

FC Barcelona wholeheartedly expresses its gratitude to the player for his contribution to the aggrandisement of the club and wishes him all the very best for the future in his personal and professional life.

Malgrat haver-se arribat a un acord entre el FC Barcelona i Leo Messi i amb la clara intenció de les dues parts de signar un nou contracte en el dia d'avui, no es podrà formalitzar a causa d'obstacles econòmics i estructurals (normativa de LaLiga espanyola).

Davant d'aquesta situació, Lionel Messi no continuarà lligat al FC Barcelona. Les dues parts lamenten profundament que finalment no es puguin complir els desitjos tant del jugador com del Club.

El Barça vol agrair de tot cor l'aportació del jugador a l'engrandiment de la institució i li desitja el millor en la seva vida personal i professional.

A pesar de haberse llegado a un acuerdo entre el FC Barcelona y Leo Messi y con la clara intención de ambas partes de firmar un nuevo contrato en el día de hoy, no se podrá formalizar debido a obstáculos económicos y estructurales (normativa de LaLiga española).

Ante esta situación, Lionel Messi no continuará ligado al FC Barcelona. Las dos partes lamentan profundamente que finalmente no se puedan cumplir los deseos tanto del jugador como del club.

El Barça quiere agradecer de todo corazón la aportación del jugador al engrandecimiento de la institución y le desea lo mejor en su vida personal y profesional.
