To me there is no better way to feel welcomed by someone than to invited I to their home for a meal. It’s how Love, Jenni kind of got started. So I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas… from my heart. Thank you for coming into my “home”. Sharing your thoughts, your ideas, your love with me. Quiche #2 is a rustic herbaceous one that I just love. You can smell the goodness. I used a springform pan to bake the crust and filled it with a simple egg custard with salt and pepper. Then topped with chopped fresh herbs. A “lighter” version of this wonderful breakfast/brunch staple, it will be served with a simple salad and shared with such good friends. I feel honored to get to make it for them. And don’t forget… quiche is great for dinner too. Enjoy. Love, Jenni 💚

Real men …. Eat quiche. Well, they should if they don’t. Holidays can be hectic and finding time to get together can be a challenge. Brunch is a fun way to work in those friendship gatherings. Quiche are a really great way to make your celebration easier. Crusts can be made ahead and the egg custards bake in about 30 mins. Don’t have a pie plate….. think outside the box. I made this Gruyère and bacon quiche with puff pastry on a small baking pan. It makes it easier to cut and perfect for slightly larger groups. I’ll be sharing my second quiche idea when it’s out of the oven. Enjoy your holidays with people you love, and don’t stress about it… it’s only once a year. Love, Jenni 💚

Tell me who can’t get a smile from a Gingerbread cookies. I like mine to be a little extra gingery. Serving on a big tray or even wrapping up in individual bags with some bows… They make a great treat, especially this time of year. Want to have fun with your little ones l? A tomato soup upgrade…. Not that it needs it. However this roasted tomato and red lentil soup is delicious. With cold weather in the forecast it’s a perfect way to keep warm, and offers some great benefits as a vegetarian option. Lentils are a legume that are grown specifically for the seeds. They are high in fiber and protein and low in fat and calories. In addition they are loaded with vitamins and minerals. Lentils are also very inexpensive, but most of all tasty with a very earthy flavor. This soup uses pepper🌶️, cumin and coriander to add to the flavor. I top my bowl with a little Greek yogurt and an onion gremolata to give a nice creamy note and add extra flavor and texture. As the cold weather rolls in, I hope you are all staying warm. The holidays are filled with parties of many kinds. Some fresh baked cookies are always a hit for a hostess gift. You’re sure to get an invite back next year. I love shortbread cookies because they go great with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Not overly sweet, but full of flakey, buttery goodness. “Leave the gun….keep the cannoli.” Well the cannoli cake anyway. Those lil tubular treats are pretty much my favorite dessert. I never pass them up. And making them is fairly easy, but the shells are time consuming. (Of course you can always buy premade shells and they are just as good). Today I made my favorite treat only in a way to share. A pistachio cannoli cake. No shells to fry. A slightly dense cake with a little finely chopped pistachio, layered with sweet ricotta cream with bits of semi sweet chocolate. Then the outside coated with extra chocolate and pistachio pieces. I’ll take a piece please. I’ll be sharing this lovely treat at Gather by Angel 101 today. So come in for a bite and enjoy a cuppa tea or coffee around the island with me. There will be other tasty bites to try and I’ll answer anything food you may have for making or gift giving. How beautiful do they look on this wonderful gold tray available at Gather by Angel 101 . It’s a perfect hostess gift. Something to enjoy right now and something to have forever too. I’m packing up these pecan shortbread cookies and bringing them to Gather by Angel 101 for their Saturday tasting. These lil gems are so easy…. But even easier with Gather’s premade pecan pie filling mix. I’ll also have the fan favorite, turkey havarti Sammie’s with hot pepper jelly. Great way to use your left turkey. Some fresh sourdough bread to bread to dip and try any one of the olive oils and vinegars from Calivirgin. There are lots of other tasty treats to try and buy that make wonderful hostess gifts and stocking stuffers. I’ll be glad to give you ideas and Gather can make it loook super pretty with their gift wrapping too.

It’s beginning to look a lot like….. peppermint martinis. These pretty iridescent red martini glasses and champagne flutes are out for the season. So why not use them. I made a super simple peppermint martini after dinner. Vanilla vodka, peppermint schnapps, and white crème de menthe. It was a perfect way to unwind by the fire. Not a new recipe, but one worth sharing again. Spaghetti squash turkey taco boats. I never had spaghetti squash growing up…. But I’m making up for lost time. It’s so delicious. It serves as a great base for bowls of many kinds, but is just as good simply roasted with some salt and pepper. Here I just cooked some turkey with tomatoes sauce, onions, bell pepper, and a few spices. Put it right in top and used the shell as a vessel. Topped with a little cheddar and pico de gallo. A great weeknight meal as well as its super easy. Love, Jenni💚

What goes best with poblano soup? Root vegetable tacos! I’m just saying… veggies such as beets get a bad wrap and can certainly provide as much flavor and be as hardy as any protein. These veggies were so satisfying and flavor forward. I roasted carrots, beets, and parsnips (so many options to choose from) with a little olive oil and some white balsamic vinegar, a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a some fresh thyme. Once roasted I added some black beans, cumin, coriander, and chili powder and heated through. I simply used corn tortillas and topped with a red cabbage slaw. You could add a creamy topping like yogurt or sour cream too. It’s a great way you add these wonderfully nutrient dense veggies I to your meals as well. Plus…who doesn’t love a taco. Roasted poblano soup is perfect for this chilly damp evening. It’s a delicious flavor and beyond simple to make. Poblano peppers don’t have a ton of heat, but using several will build the flavor. I drizzled some yogurt and a few drops of hot sauce. Using vegetable stock makes it a great vegetarian option too. Serve with a few tortilla chips as a side if you like. Love, Jenni 💚

It’s everything I hoped it would be….and plenty to share. A dessert worthy of the Thanksgiving table. It’s sweet, moist, creamy, and delicious. The addition of ice cream is almost a must. Right out of the oven. I know…. Apple pie is a staple of the holidays. Today however I am experimenting with some other options. Apple pie bread pudding. Oh my heaven. My kitchen smells A-mazing. Hopefully I’ll be able to plate this pretty, but if not I am sure the flavors will be there. Bread pudding is a sadly overlooked dessert option. It’s sweet, moist, and decadent. Top it with some I e cream and well….. it’s fantastic. I’ve saved some of the apple pie filling juices to pot in top as well. It should be delicious. Cookbook club was again a success. Never a question really. I was tasked with the appetizer and chose the crab cakes from Magnolia Table Volume 3. They didn’t disappoint. They were full of tasty chunks of sweet crab. Some fresh green onions and a little red pepper. Super easy to make as well. I air fried them to keep them healthier and they were perfect texture. A slightly spicy rémoulade for topping was a nice touch too. These would also be great served with a salad for a quick lunch or a simple dinner. Vary the portion size for appetizer or entree. Whether it’s a cookbook club, or other gathering it’s always fun to gather with good people. Make it a priority, it’s good for the soul. And if you need to bring a dish to share I recommend these highly. Love, Jenni 💚

Yesterday the sun was shining, but it was still a bit frigid. So I am made the ultimate in keeping warm foods, roasted tomato basil soup. It’s such a good staple to have, so I make a big pot and can some of it for later. Soup is great anytime of the year, but especially on these last lingering months of winter. Love, Jenni 💚
