Due to some logistical errors on Mother’s end, we will no longer be able to do a private open bar event. Instead, and .gudenzi will simply be DJing the front bar of Mother’s. No tickets are required, no cover, and the bar will be open to the public. ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Gorgon City
In honor of their pop-up warehouse show on Saturday (10/2), this week’s Artist of the Week is the UK production duo (Matt Robson Scott and Kye Gibbon). They met through their old shared agent at The Fat Agency, and they were both going through creative blocks before teaming up. When started making music together, they could easily bounce ideas off each other and started finishing tracks in days. Soon after, they signed a major record deal with Virgin Records and transitioned from parents’ basements and local clubs to major studios and international tours. Through Virgin, they learned how to work with vocalists, song writers, choirs, musicians and more, and they fine tuned iconic, bouncy, bass driven sound which often mixes bass, tech, and melodic house music. Now, they spend around two weeks per year working with singers, writers and musicians in LA, building a catalog of songs, melodies, and samples that they can use in future songs.
Matt and Kye also started their own record label, Realm Records, in late 2017 in an effort to leave a lasting footprint on the international house music scene. For them, the label is all about finding and develop undiscovered acts, and they’ve been regularly releasing undiscovered music for over two years now. Originality and emotion is what they look for most, and the sound of the label is “anything you might hear in a Gorgon City DJ set” (they also play with a band at their live shows).
You can catch a Gorgon City THIS SATURDAY in DC at the Nu Androids Ai Secret Warehouse show. This monthly pop-up event is always a fun switch up from the typical venues in DC, and Gorgon City is sure to put on a hell of a show. Introducing this weekend’s guest DJ for the Groovy Garden Rooftop, Anthony Garrett aka DJ Tony G! Tony is from Queens, New York and has been DJing since all the way back in 1979, SHEESH! An avid house music fan since the very beginning of the genre, Tony has been perfecting his DJing for decades. He’s got a deep bag of old school and soul house music and he loves seeing the crowd have fun and dance above all else. He’ll be setting the vibes right for the first few hours of the show with closing out the last hour, so grab your tickets now and we’ll see you Saturday!
This week’s ARTIST OF THE WEEK is ! Over the past few years, this UK producer has steadily rose to become one of the biggest names in tech house and one of the most promising young producers in all of house music. His utilization of hip hop and vocal samples and his skills in creating consistent bassline grooves in each track give Cloonee a distinct tech-house sound that can make nearly any music lover instantly get on their feet and dance. He has released on prominent labels such as , Solardo’s Sola, Lee Foss’s , and most recently Chris Lake’s . Over quarantine, Chris Lake became a close mentor and friend of his, and Cloonee has been opening for him at some of his bigger shows recently including Petco Park in San Diego and The Brooklyn Mirage. He also has several more releases lined up on Black Book to look out for.
Cloonee makes his D.C. debut this Saturday at Flash at ’s weekly SünDown event, and personally I couldn’t be much more excited. Since discovering him a couple years ago, he’s been very high up on my list of DJs I haven’t seen yet. And whether you’re going or not, you should definitely check out his music, as long as you like to dance of course. So here are 5 must-know Cloonee tracks in order from oldest to newest:

3i Entertainment ARTIST OF THE WEEK. This is a new thing that I (Jake) am gonna start doing to highlight artists I really like who are playing upcoming shows in the DMV area (most of which I will be attending). Taiki will be headlining his first show in DC this Friday, the 27th at - hosted by . His style spans a range of house, bass house, techno and bassline, which makes it a bit hard to really pin down his “sound” but somehow when you hear his music, you still know it’s a Taiki Nulight track just from listening. Taiki really gained popularity after joining around 2015 and has since gone on to become one of their core members and biggest names. He also started his own label last year, Orient Records, on which he has been releasing a lot of his own new music. If you aren’t familiar with Taiki Nulight, check him out now with 5 of my favorite tracks of his in order from chillest to deepest:
