David Lynch’s 16mm Experiments (1968)

A creepy tea party starring Lynch’s wife Peggy Reavey, a moving burning painting and other surreal animated moments.
From the Lime Green DVD Box Set (2008). Revisited and compiled experimental footage shot during 1967-1968. Fragments and experiments that were previously never released elsewhere with unused parts of The Alphabet (1968).

Pig (1998)

A psychological horror short directed by Nico B. Created, co-directed by and starring Rozz Williams as a serial killer who goes into the desert with an unidentifiable victim to ritualistically torture and murder. The film surreally delves into the mind of the killer and his sadomasochistic relationship with the victim. Features collaged artwork by Rozz entitled ‘Why God Permits Evil’.
Filmed as a form of exorcism of personal demons for Rozz several months before he committed su***de on April Fools Day.

The idea stemmed from a Halloween photo shoot with a Pig mask Rozz found creating “The Pig Man” character. “I started thinking more about the character of this person, who he was and how he thought of himself.
It's a really quite a dark look at... let's say, if I weren't doing this on film, you would be talking to me from a prison cell right now. I'm living out some fantasies on film. (R.W., Johnny Walker, Vibe, 1997).

Japanese punk cinema auteur Sogo Ishii’s Halber Mensch (1986)

Prior to the feature screening of Begotten, I’ll be showing segments (with OST) from the obscure tour de force musical documentary and art film starring Einstürzende Neubauten. Shot during their Japan tour, the legendary industrial pioneers perform their anti-pop album Halber Mensch in an abandoned factory warehouse. Accompanied by Butoh dancers, their construction tool instruments and flesh eating centipedes.

Begotten screens Oct. 20th, 8pm as part of ’s Cult Terror Cinema program!

Vintage cult horror trailers pre-show 7-8pm with DJ CRMSN CRETR. Beer & wine bar sales and free popcorn provided.

Begotten (1989) is a provocative surreal neo-psychedelic cosmic horror film of grotesque expressionism. The film goes beyond art house and has imprinted itself within transgressive cinema as an underground “nightmare classic”.

A mesmerizingly morbid film conveying “the death of religion, the abuse of nature by man…” and “a tale of human suffering”. Described as a “ritual caught on film” and “…the creation myth brought to life, the story of no less than the violent death of God and the (re)birth of nature on a barren earth.”

“Begotten is a chrysalis made of archetypal materials, gestures, and forces that defy the “moral” and rational structure of meaning. The film is a launching pad for the mind, a “watering hole” where the imagination drinks to intoxication.” - Merhige

“Kind of like if Alejandro Jodorowsky told the story of creation filtered through the lens of Eraserhead.” - Entertainment Weekly

Kenneth Anger’s counter culture dark psychedelic artifact, Invocation of My Demon Brother (1969)

Anger claims the original Lucifer Rising film was stolen by ‘Lucifer’ actor, Bobby Beausoleil. Who Anger placed a curse on just before Bobby’s car broke down in front of Charles Manson’s Spahn Ranch. Rumor says Bobby buried the film nearby the Ranch. Invocation was made from the remnants of the original Lucifer Rising into a celluloid ritual conjuring Lucifer and what Anger describes as “an attack on the sensorium”.

J.X. Williams’ cursed film, The Virgin Sacrifice (1974)

“…with ‘Virgin’, you could just smell the v***r of evil clouding the set. It didn’t help that our chief investor was a ranking member of the Church of Satan. In the end, we tallied three OD’s, a maimed-for-life set designer, bankruptcy, and a car bombing (sort of). Even the film itself disappeared. Not just the prints. The film lab burnt down and we lost the negative. All I’ve got left is the nine minute opening to the main feature and the sound-sync is f**ked.” - JXW

J.X. Williams’ contract breaker bad-trip rarity, Psych Burn (1968)

Originally produced by ABC for a TV pilot to cash in on the emerging hippie demographic. But with JX seeing the proposed LOVE-IN TONITE psychedelic variety show to be a failed disaster he “…decided to deliver the suits a farewell kick-in-the-butt called PSYCH-BURN. The best part was that they presented my film sight unseen at a board meeting about the new Fall Season. I heard some heads rolled over that one." - JXW

Satan Bouche Un Coin (1968)

Released May 4, 1968 during the Paris riots. An improvised dark short by French surrealist Jean-Pierre Bouyxou in collaboration with Raphael Marongiu and friends. Starring infamous fetishistic artist Pierre Molinier as ‘Androgyne’.

Shot Fall of 2016 in burned down fabric depots behind the dtla warehouse I lived in near 7th st and Central ave.
A dark kaleidoscopic portal of anguish revealing a video altar summoning deities of destruction and rebirth.

Around the time of filming this I started actively volunteering at and found a creative home that allowed me to grow and explore my video art and events with support from a vibrant DIY community filled with cherished memories.

My video work has only been shared before through my Video Altar installations and screenings. I’m nervous as hell but excited to finally share my first film online to celebrate six years of one of the greatest underground video art and music venues in Los Angeles!

Also for your coffee table, grab a copy of Coaxial’s beautiful new book to read a piece I wrote on with exhibit photos.

Smoulder is the collaborative work of dear and talented friends that believed in my visions. I wholeheartedly thank you all for helping me summon this little beauty.

Honored to premiere Video Altar partner .001’s rarely shared enrapturing music with his original score.

I recently had an interview with cinema rebel and maverick, Alex Cox for ! Auteur and director of cult classics Repo Man (1984), Sid and Nancy (1986), Straight to Hell (1987), and Walker (1987). Alex speaks with us about his films, filmmaking in a COVID world, politics, and meeting the neutron bomb inventor who was an avid fan of Repo Man and reached out to Alex for lunch once.

Repo Man harkens to the gritty past of LA in the early to mid 1980’s. Raw and unapologetic for the grime and crime. It’s a film that makes many of us Angelenos proud of the roots in this city. No glossy Hollywood sign or spritzy Beverly Hills glamour. This is downtown and east side Los Angeles. The real LA. Topped with a primal and classic soundtrack of 80’s punk rock crème de la crème bands early in their prime days.

My write up and restrospect on this punk cult classic is now on ! Packed it full of wild anecdotes and eye candy.

Excited to be writing film reviews for online magazine! Starting off with a retrospective on Decoder, 1984.

Noise terrorist F.M. Einheit of Einstürzende Neubauten and drug culture icon Christiane F. star in this rarely seen pre-cyberpunk underground cult film. Influenced by the writings of William S. Burroughs who also makes an appearance. Genesis P-Orridge guest stars as well and collaborates with Dave Ball of Soft Cell for an unforgettable soundtrack. Pirate punks causing riots with noise and a hamburger corporation hired assassin detective played by Bill Rice. What more could you ask for from this 1984 neon drenched Orwellian industrial gem! 📻🍔🐸⚡️*Link in bio*

Video Altar presents Santa Muerte by for at The Los Angeles Theatre, Nov. 1st & 2nd.

Thank you to all that came and immersed themselves into the Video Altar room! The amount of love and respect shown to the altar was utterly heartwarming!

It’s an incredibly deep devotion I have to La Santisima Muerte and to share the beauty I see in her during such a positive and enchanting night was a dream! Everyone’s reactions and comments were so heartfelt and touching 🖤✨

And so much gratitude and endless love to everyone that helped bring this vision into fruition!
and the guys for giving me the opportunity to shine my brightest!

TV magician partnered up with us to build our most massive Altar yet! His analog skills, arrangements and TVs really created the structure and foundation to build my altar upon. A true honor to work with such an inspiring artist!

drenched the night in gorgeous colors as well as his lighting throughout the film. While our wonderful altar guardian beautifully tended the altar.

The film starred the lovely as The Saint of Holy Death with beautifully haunting makeup by the talented

With myself starring in the film, certain scenes wouldn’t of happened without camera assistance from , and .

Mi hermano .001 really treated us with his gorgeous original soundtrack to the film while it played on full loop with credits. G.S.E.D personal music is a real rare treasure to be included. Certain special visual edits in the film were also by his craft.

My partner in rites during this pilgrimage of Video Altar also truly summoned the perfect atmosphere when he Dj’d during my ritual performances.

& for his support in supplying sound!

The magical Sita Young for her free tarot readings throughout the night! A special gift for those who ventured into the Video Altar room.

There was as well a secret mini tv altar install downstairs for those who explored the corners of that majestically historic haunted theater.
