What started as a pasture and a dream is developing into a country wonderland, thanks to some hardworking city kids. Led by Tristin White - a future architect - Elias (Mongo) Reeder,
Jonathan (Thudro) Reeder, Trevor (Toejam) Bean, Hannah (Hannahbanero) DuFriend, Derick (Bam-Bam), Brad Reeder, Daniel Reeder, Gage Schaefer, Brandi White, Sam Griffin, Tara Wright, and David Reeder have cleared brush, cleaned up trash, built spillways and waterfalls, cut creeks, moved dirt and rocks, and pruned trees to reshape our 13-acre property into a scenic getaway for horses and their riders.

We're overwhelmed by the generosity and dedication of the motley crew that's determined to transform the Lone Star Pavilion into a local attraction visitors can enjoy for decades to come.

Proceeds from events and activities help feed and care for horses at Swingin' D Horse Rescue. Donations are gratefully accepted at https://donate.stripe.com/dR67wk86DeyYegocMO

VENDORS, BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!

As spring approaches and event season heats up, so will scammers seeking to drain your bank accounts.

Event organizers often require a deposit to reserve a booth at an upcoming event. It helps organizers plan the layout, and reserves the right space for vendors. We believe we recently had an event organizer attempt to use our property as a front for an upcoming event. To be clear, as of March 2, 2024, Lone Star Pavilion has no scheduled events.

Here's how we recommend you protect yourself from unscrupulous scammers who post fake events to trick you out of your hard-earned money.

1) Check for a website or page. Make sure the page has been around for a while. Does the event have a logo? A location? In general, the more established and legitimate the event, the more investment they'll put into marketing and PR materials.

2) If it's a new event with no established website, page or group, check the profile of the person who posted the event. Red flags: New accounts with few friends and few posts. Check the profiles of all event organizers.

3) Do they have sponsors? If so, verify the sponsorship.

4) Verify the address of the event by doing a reverse search on Duck Duck Go or Google. Contact the property owner and verify the upcoming event.

5) Require a booth rental agreement before you make a deposit. The contract should include the legal name of the event, plus names of the responsible parties.

6) Beware of events that require payment through untraceable, instant cash apps that don't allow you to challenge charges.

I'm sure more experienced event venues and vendors have even more tips to keep you safe. Please feel free to share them below.

Here's to a successful, safe and prosperous event season!
