Did someone say craft workshops? 🤩

Join Jan Ramirez at Hatherleigh Pottery on Saturday 8th July for an introduction to Shibori Dying.

Shibori is the fascinating Japanese art of stitch resist which is
based on simple handmade running stitches. In this taster workshop you will learn how to affect the result by varying the stitches and folds of the fabric and how to ‘pull up’ your hand stitched work before dyeing. After releasing the stitches a unique piece of Shibori will be revealed!

The workshop will last approximately 1.5 hours, cost £5 to cover materials.

Let the countdown to Festival 2023 begin 🥳

Aside from a weekend of amazing music, street food and local makers market, we have some fantastic workshops and talks, too!

Saturday is approaching..a fabulous mix of stalls from handmade goodies to local produce. Antique collectibles, pre loved vintage clothes and homewares. Live music all day. Fantastic mini workshops, make a badge (what will you put on yours 😁) Paint a wooden bee with Madewell, or perhaps a festival flower head garland will appeal. We have Hatherleigh Church with their family arts and crafts. Refreshments a plenty…local pizza’s, tea/coffee and cakes! The Chilli competition looks to be something not to be missed, your vote counts and an absolute bargain for lunch. I think we’ve got your menu covered all day. This is a day where you can chill, eat and have the children entertained whilst enjoying the bar? The music?
Don’t forget Entertainingly Different, interactive family show at 10am, great way to start the day.

Learn about our local wildlife this weekend all at the MINI FEST.

10-11.30am - Discovering Moths
Discover the amazing variety, colour and camouflage of our local moths.

11am -1pm - Bumblebee Workshop
An opportunity to learn from an expert, an introduction to identifying Devon bumblebees, suitable for adults, beginners and keen youngsters (over 12s). Places are limited, to book email: [email protected]

1.30pm -3.30pm - River Dipping
Discover the rich wildlife living in the River Lew and how this can indicate the health of our river. The kids will love this activity (wear wellies – we have the nets!).

3pm - Learn about Lichens
A short introduction about these fascinating and very overlooked species.

8.30pm - Bat Walk
Join us on this walk where we’ll use bat detectors to discover which bats live in town. Please book a place via the email [email protected]
