ADIOS AMIGOS!

It’s not bye forever but it’s bye for now, it’s been a really tough season due to the weather and other factors and I need to give my lovely little family some much needed money stability. I thought long and hard about just fading into the background but I wanted to say thank you all for supporting me. Im gutted I couldn’t make it work full time but it’s not my time in life to go big when my little family still needs me so much. Im going back to my lovely Flower Corner a proper florist on Queens Road, Leicester. It’s like “little London” and a street full of independents so I do hope you’ll come and see me. Please do!

This account will very much stay alive with the bees throughout the beekeeping season and I’ll be sure to let you know of honey availability. (Cross everything for normal British seasons next year!)

I’ve also got some Christmas workshops planned in so I’ll let you know about those soon.

HELEN’S TREASURE!

I’ve been and picked some of Helen’s beautiful lavender and made it into a lavender and gyp wreath. I wish these socials had a scratch and sniff. I’ll definitely sleep well tonight.

PLAN BEE

Hi team, it’s not been hard to see but our summer weather hasn’t been usual and the past two seasons have been really hard on our bees. Last year it was the heatwave, this year non stop rain meaning the flowers can’t get going fast enough and stay flowering long enough.

This is an email from our beekeeping associations chairman… a master beekeeper himself and if he’s keeping his honey on his hives this year then I definitely know I’m doing the right thing for our bees.

Feeding my bees inferior sugar syrup wasn’t their plan and it’s not going to be mine either.

I went to inspect and thought wow they have loads then the next week when I’d picked up the spinner and was ready to take it off they’d already eaten so much.

So an apology for anyone waiting for honey but unless we see an Indian summer and an abundance of pollen and nectar I’ll be leaving their gold with them to get them through winter.

It’s so so important that I play my part in looking after these amazing creatures and for me it’s not a money spinner for honey, it really is my passion.

Ok ok I know I harp on about no rain no flowers but now we’d really love a bit of sun please universe!!!!! without the rain and sun in equal measures the flowers aren’t able to get off to the best start!

I’m soooooooo sorry I’ve been AWOL!

It’s been a whirlwind…. This end of year for the kiddos, one of the busiest we’d ever had! Two weeks of shows, leavers assembly’s, church services, sports days, new school open days and to be completely honest with you I couldn’t give my attention to social media too otherwise my head might have popped off! Also beautiful weddings, freelancing and keeping myself and the family alive!

But with being quiet on socials brings a ripple effect of being quiet on orders so don’t forget me if you have a flowery need! I’m still here just haven’t been showing you much!

The weather has been so unbelievably awful and for the honey bees in between rain storms they’ve been getting out but it’s not a full days work for them. Let me explain why this affects honey supplies…. You might not know but bees don’t fly in the rain so if a storm is on the way all bees hunker down inside their hives watching Netflix and you’ve guessed it eating their honey supply! On Friday it didn’t stop raining all day so no nectar was gathered. 60 -80,000 bees had to be fed that day so they tuck in to their honey!

This is why i’m keeping a close eye on their supply and will only extract honey if i’m sure they’ve got surplus!

Always thinking of the bees first before our own honey needs!!

A VIRTUAL BUNCH!

Not my usual post but heres a big old bunch of locally grown gorgeous fleurs for all the mums, dads, grandparents, carers and anyone else going through the end of year school schedule plus shoehorning in some teacher strike days too.

Anddddd I guess an apology of not being able to get to any markets too but I’m completely frazzled! The poor little people are feeling it I’m sure! It’d be great if the world slowed down a bit!

Over the summer I’ll have the kiddos with me but I’m still working and you can always order on the website.

HONEY!!

We’re in business! The girls are filling supers like no tomorrow and my most tenacious colony is on the good stuff! Usually these bees are calm and kind but when they’ve got so much to protect they lose their heads and become slightly aggressive! I just talk to them and within ten minutes they’re ok with me hanging around! Two stings today though first of the season! Ouch!

I’ll keep you updated when we’re spinning!

This next two weeks and beyond into the summer holiday seems to be getting like a bonkers time so apologies if I’m not at the market. The kiddos come first but what I’ll do is list some smaller items on the website this eve that you can collect. Thanks so much.

BEETLE JUICE!

10 minute school run and got wet through to my underwear…….But smiled all the while as all farmers will be jumping for joy at this weeks forecast!

So this morning was finishing getting everything in the ground but now it’s an admin and tidy up kind of day!

Fresh!

Cut last night just a small selection of blooms going into orders today!

So just because I don’t have an actual shop did you know how easy it is to order seasonal flowers from me?

I’m working really hard behind the scenes on the travelling shop but it’s not quite ready yet! Chomping at the bit but fitting it in around the kids 😂

So what I’m trying to say is even if you’re in a rush just drop me a line I’ve always got fresh flowers conditioning in the workshop to whip you up a bunch! Just shout! X###x
