When I was 14 years old I started learning to cut and mix music. I’ve done martial arts my whole life and knew there was a need for professional editing. I started with the most bare and technically lacking hardware and software. Yet I eventually honed my skill enough to get noticed by a few top competitors. In the early 2000’s Matthew Emig used my first “official” mix. This sky rocketed my popularity quickly. In my first 5-10 years I struggled with a “sound.” Eventually I mixed a couple songs for a competitor named Rudy Reynon, the mix included samples of the original song mixed with custom drum kits to create a “hip hop” walk in. It eventually turned into the big “clap” arrangement you hear today. Through my years I have mixed and mastered numerous projects. As I grew within being a sound engineer I developed the overall knowledge that I have today. Now, with 20 years of experience in sound engineering and 30 years in martial arts competition, I continue to provide top tier remixes for top tier competition. I have made remixes for almost every major competitor in every major circuit for the past 15-20 years. Eventually, like with most influential people in this business I started to receive requests to “teach” how to mix music. There have been many young aspiring DJs who have started using my sound kits, and have been imitating this format/sound I have developed over the years. I am very honored and flattered that this is happening. I am going to be changing the game soon again. It’s time to change this sound and slowly morph it into something new.
Until then, I’ll say this. Through trial and error I have developed the experience and skill to not only provide the desired up to date remixes everyone seeks to obtain. But to create a fully engineered product that sounds good in any system, in any venue. I have been called the “Yoda” or the “O.G.” Of this mixing game. It’s truly amazing to be on a major tournament floor and hear this format/sound I created so many years ago, get these crowds going and these kids amped up to perform in front of so many people. I look forward to working with anyone who is in need of that professional sound! -Dj NeVaeH
