We are excited to see the redevelopment progress so far. We love seeing the sunlight stream through the venue's beautiful windows.

The Council has provided a progress report on the major ongoing scheme to redevelop the Muni Arts Centre (Y Muni) in .
Work to the building, in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust, started in September – to reopen Y Muni next year as a multi-purpose and fully-accessible events hub.
The redevelopment will repair and conserve the 1890s building, with the project designed to expose elements of its stunning gothic architecture.
The internal strip of the building, which includes some demolition work, continues to progress well – across the lobby area, ground floor, first floor and staircases.
Scaffolding has recently been installed in the main auditorium area to access the ceiling as part of the internal strip.
Externally, the site hoardings and scaffolding were previously installed, and important progress has been made with several elements of the building exterior.
This has included trays being installed to the rear elevation of the roof, which will support new integrated photovoltaic (solar electricity) panels.
Stonework repairs have also started to the building’s tower, while stonework cleaning across the building exterior is progressing.
The images show windows being exposed inside the auditorium (top left), progress on the first floor strip (top right), the external scaffold (bottom left) and the internal auditorium scaffold (bottom right).
This project is being delivered using £5.3m UK Government Levelling Up funding secured by the Council.
The Council will continue to provide project updates at regular intervals as the works progress throughout 2024.

These images show the progress being made in the early stages of the Muni Arts Centre (Y Muni) project in .
The exciting redevelopment in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust got underway in September – to reopen the Muni next year as a multi-purpose and fully-accessible events venue.
Early activity has seen the works site being set up by contractor Knox & Wells, while scaffolding has been installed to the building exterior and strip-out/demolition works have started inside.
The image on the top-right is looking towards the old stage area, and shows how the auditorium linings have been stripped.
The bottom-left image shows the soft strip of the auditorium getting underway to the rear of the room, looking in the direction of the new bar and retractable seating.
The wall linings for the mezzanine have also been removed, revealing the building’s existing windows – illustrated in the bottom-right image.
The strip-out/demolition works are continuing while, later this month, residents will notice the site hoardings being installed externally and the main roof works getting underway.
This project is being delivered using UK Government Levelling Up funding, after £5.3m was secured by the Council during late 2021.
We’ll continue to provide project updates as this scheme progresses in the weeks and months ahead

Looking forward to our next this Wednesday (2 August) 🎶🛍️🎸

If you're in town, come and enjoy the sounds of Cardiff-born Sion Russell Jones. Sion first emerged onto the Welsh music scene in 2010, with his independently-released debut album 'And suddenly...' and, with favourable reviews among critics and fans alike, the release led to a plethora of live performances across Europe, America and Japan.

Sion is known for his bitter-sweet lyricism littered with reflections and honesty, a dynamic guitar style, and an unusual vocal approach.

Dubbed 'Kacey Musgraves meets London Grammar' by BBC6 Music and 'Swansea's answer to Faith Hill', we can't wait to welcome Eleri Angharad to Pontypridd for our first 'Music in the Market'.

Eleri Infuses rock and pop into her country sound, inspired by a US road trip at age 19. Having visited musical hotbeds like Greensboro, North Carolina and Nashville, as well as the shining lights of Chicago and New York she draws influences from a host of artists combining traditional country music storytelling with catchy melodies.
