🌸 After much reflection and with a heavy heart, I've made the difficult decision to close the doors of Pretty & Punk Wedding Fairs after the 2024 Devon & Somerset shows. 💔 It's been an incredible journey, but it's time to say goodbye.

People always ask me what the hardest thing is about starting out in wedding planning, and my answer is always the same!

The hardest step in my journey was the first one.

It takes so much courage to step out of your comfort zone especially on social media and decide to pursue your dream working for yourself.

But once I did? Even for the second time after having my accounts hacked...

The confidence I gained from taking that first step and the support from you all has and will support me through every step after that.

Do I still doubt myself from time to time?

Of course!

We all do, but that’s alright. That means we are serious about offering something worthwhile.

Any time I start to wonder what in the World I am doing, I remember that first step and to bring God with me every step of the way!

As it's Mother's day, mums today still don't have a struggling with finding ways to include your mum(s) on your elopement journey?

Here are three moments you can make them feel included and I'm not just talking about on the day:

1. Tell your mum's the top secret in advance that your elopement is nearing and that no one else knows.

2. When you're shopping for your wedding outfits, bring them along for the day or for the final fitting.

3. Ask your mum's to write you both a love note or prayer in advance so you can read it on the day of your elopement.

I've recently started a mindfulness course to help empower going people to reflect, be still and live on the present.

Most times it's hard enough as adults to do this. Let alone whilst planning a wedding.

In life we are always looking for the end goal and sometimes we forget to enjoy the process of just being.

Professionals when it comes to planning the most celebrations, they have seen all types of wedding.

Whether you don’t know where to begin with budgeting, are having trouble sourcing suppliers, or if you have no idea what stationery you need, they can swoop in and help but what qualities should you look for in a good wedding planner?

For us we’d recommend someone with lots of creativity and patience first and foremost. Creativity is needed in spades to be able to bring your wedding vision to life, whether you're getting married at a venue that supplies endless choices or whether you've got a blank canvas your wedding planner and coordinator needs to be skilled in sorting through all of your ideas and suppliers and bringing them all together.

A great wedding planner and coordinator is also patient and understanding. Being adaptable and empathetic to your needs is first and foremost but also coordinating lots of different suppliers, venue queries and every last detail to ensure your day goes without a hitch!

Finally a great wedding coordinator should alleviate your stresses and not add to them - look for a wedding team who puts you at ease with their flair, experience and calm manner.

When it comes to allocating your wedding budget, there are so many aspects to consider.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s important to note that often it’s not suppliers overcharging or being too expensive. It may be that you didn’t request specific enough within your enquiry and sent us a photo for inspiration with no concept in place, leaving us to do the guesswork.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, to avoid the disappointment of receiving proposals from your dream suppliers to end up being over your budget – and then you rejecting or disappearing (which hurts btw) – especially when we appear to be a great match.
