After 14 years of suffering from nut allergies, I found a program run by the Southern California Food Allergy Institute called TIP (Tolerance Induction Program). This program conducts extensive skin, pulmonary and blood tests. Based on your medical history, an AI algorithm develops a personalized food dosing plan for you to achieve Food Freedom. Doctors create a regime of small food doses, prepared carefully to introduce your immune system to the proteins you’re allergic to. As the body begins to familiarize itself to the problematic proteins, it stops producing the histamines that cause anaphylaxis. The results for me have been life-changing. I’ve been in the program now for 11 months. After four visits, I am no longer sensitive to 16 foods, and I am no longer anaphylactic to pecans. I am currently dosing pine nuts and pistachios, which will leave only walnuts and hazelnuts to be treated. My doctor has cleared me from cross contamination as well as anything that says “made on a facility that produces peanuts or tree nuts.” My asthma is now under complete control, and I feel an enormous sense of relief. As wonderful as the program is, it is hard work; however, I am on a personal mission to food freedom and hope more people know about this program and more people have access to it.
