When we first arrived in Miri, something special embraced us. It felt like home right away, despite being strangers. The warmth of the people here welcomed us into a united community. Throughout our Borderland journey, we've connected with diverse groups – different races, authorities, sponsors, suppliers, partners, media, talents, and the wonderful people of Miri, Brunei, Bintulu, Sibu, Kuching, KK, and even the Sebauh Longhouse community. These labels we have just mentioned, do not define them, because they only want to be known as one thing, the Borneon.
Borneo's unity is incredibly strong. On the daily basis, people from all backgrounds come together, hanging out, showing respect, sharing meals, celebrating, supporting local businesses, and looking out for one another. No matter who they are, they are all part of the bonded and united Borneo Family.
We felt that the world has not given enough attention to this place with such beautiful cultures and passion for music. That's why Borderland was born – a music festival offering fresh experiences to both Borneons and music enthusiasts beyond the island, letting them embrace this distinct and enchanting culture. Music festivals have always been about love, unity, peace, and cultural exchange. And where better to celebrate all of that than in the breathtaking backdrop of Borneo?
Making Borderland happen hasn't been easy for our team, since this is the first time a music festival of this size is happening here, starting from ground zero. We're working hard to share our vision for Borderland. Our aim is to showcase Borneo's spirit through an international-level music festival right at where we call home.
