The History of Gospel Music Cast Spotlight:

Reggie Love was raised in Tallahassee, Florida. He grew up in Saint Mary P.B. Church where he began singing and rapping for the Lord. Learning the basics of music in middle and high school through singing and performing with the school chorus, Reggie’s passion for music grew within his soul. Listening to a variety of music, Reggie began to gain more knowledge and understood the different concepts and different types of music.

Reggie heard God's calling for him to create and make a joyful noise for the Lord through Music. After this revelation Reggie began singing, writing, rapping and creating music for the Lord. Reggie’s motto he lives for is to hear His Master reply, "well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness"(Matthew 25:21).

We are so excited to have him as part of the HOGM cast!

The History of Gospel Music Cast Spotlight:

Hailing from Durham, NC, Shonie V began singing at the young age of 7 years old. Her parents recognized her passion for music and her natural gift and began investing in her craft. She started singing in her church youth choir. She has participated in numerous talent shows, and traveled to various states in the US singing and inspiring all she comes in contact with. Her love for writing also began at a very young age. She prides herself on writing music with the listener in mind. Calming, inspirational, and meditative sounds take the listener to a place of gratitude, and serenity. Shonie V's music offers inspirational and peaceful vibes for your everyday listener and we are so excited to have her participate as part of the HOGM cast.

Joseph is one of the original cast members here in NC and he is the type of man you would want to be a part of anything you're doing that glorifies God. We heard him singing praise and worship at their church, Impact Church of Durham, after being invited by his wife Germaine (another cast member) to worship with them. Joseph has a wonderful gift that he has LOVES sharing with the world for more than 25 years. Gospel Music allows him to express how God's Word affects his spirit. It is a universal language people can understand. Something Joseph would want the world to know about him is he is a lover of Christ and everything he does he wants it to point to Christ. The History of Gospel Music Cast Spotlight:
Shannon Milton Rivera

Shannon has been a part of HOGM from the very beginning in NJ. She sang a few times but then elevated to stage manager where she has now taken on the role of HOGM Lead Stage Manager and we could not be more proud of her. Shannon says that Gospel Music honestly, it makes me think about how good God has been and is to her. The things that she has been through; it’s comforting. It makes her feel like God’s got her; she's safe. No matter what she goes through, listening to gospel music let’s her know that she can make it through. Shannon says, know this one thing to be true, she doesn’t look like what she's experienced throughout her life. A little secret, Shanny-Pooh is our oldest daughter and we are thankful to God for the selfless lady she is and we are very proud of her.

The History of Gospel Music Cast Spotlight: Mable Lean Dunston

Mable, another original member of the NC cast, started singing when she was 3 years old, The Dunston family group with her sisters and parents. It has always been a love of hers to sing for the Lord, a sense of giving her hope and peace. Mable has been a member of Friendship Chapel Baptist Church Wake Forest, the location for this year's production, for more than 30 years. Singing gospel music has gotten her through a lot of the ups and downs we go through. It feeds her soul, energizes her and gives her a sense of peace and hope. Gospel Music gives her answers the world could not and has been lifeline for her. Mable wants the world to know that there are many layers to her. Because people see you out front doing one thing they think that’s all you are. Get to know who she is, the many layers of her, we did, which is why she is not only a cast member but has now become the HOGM Choir Director.

As a testament to his impact, Crouch won multiple Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. His compositions, such as "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power" and "Soon and Very Soon," not only topped gospel charts but also crossed over to mainstream success. Andraé Crouch's innovative approach to gospel music continues to inspire and uplift generations, solidifying his place as a revered icon in the world of Christian music.

Robin is another original cast member here in NC, since 2018, who loves Gospel Music and has been singing it all of his life. Robin is a Minister at St. Johns UHC in Zebulon where he loves ministering to the youth. Gospel Music was his first connection to God; it has been his foundation.

Gospel Music is the good news and adding music, spreads it. Robin wants the world to look past him and look to God. He is truly grateful to be a part of this cast and it shows. The History of Gospel Music Cast Spotlight: Arkela Black-Wills

Arkela, another NC original cast member has participated in every production here. She has been singing since she was 5 years old and is a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Rolesville where we attended a couple of years ourselves. Arkela believes Gospel Music acknowledges the frustrations of daily living and its circumstances. It provides needed healing and encouragement to move forward from any situation. The power that lies within Gospel Music to her has the ability to subdue any uncharacteristic or negative action and can quicken thoughts as well as awaken sympathy. It can promote praise and can banish darkness that destroys courage and weakens efforts for all. One thing Arkela wants the world to know about her is that she LOVES God!!
