Welcome our next speaker, Joaquín Zihuatanejo!

Joaquín Zihuatanejo is an award-winning teacher, poet, and world champion from East Dallas. His work has been featured on NBC, HBO, and on NPR in Historias and The National Teachers Initiative. A proud Woodrow alumni, Joaquín received his MFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Joaquín's last book, Arsonist, won the Anhinga-Robert Dana Prize for Poetry and his new collection, Occupy Whiteness, is due out from Deep Vellum Books in April of 2024. Joaquín currently serves as the inaugural Dallas Poet Laureate and was recently awarded the Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship of $50,000 given to honor poets of literary merit who selflessly, dutifully, and poetically serve their cities. Joaquín has two passions in his life, his wife Aída and poetry, always in that order.

began his entrepreneurial career in the nightclub management business. The
Airforce Veteran Williams has gone on to own two boutique car dealerships and
a real estate investment portfolio, but some of his biggest accomplishments have been finding a way to bounce back from losses and not losing sight of the big picture, and being able to create a culture that makes
the workplace not feel like work at all.

Froswa’ Booker-Drew, Ph.D. is a Network Weaver who believes relationships are the key to our personal, professional, and organizational growth. She has been quoted/featured in Forbes, Ozy, Bustle, Huffington Post, Modern Luxury, and other media outlets, due to an extensive background in leadership, nonprofit management, philanthropy, partnership development, training, and education. She is the CEO of Soulstice Consultancy, LLC providing DEI, leadership training, community engagement strategies and philanthropic/partnership guidance for institutions and the CEO of R2 Foundation (Restoration and Reconciliation Foundation) providing support for Black led nonprofits.

Formerly the Vice President of Community Affairs for the State Fair of Texas, Froswa’ was responsible for grantmaking, educational programming and community initiatives. More than 70% of organizations funded were led by people of color.  As the previous National Community Engagement Director for World Vision, she served as a catalyst, partnership broker, and builder of the capacity of local partners in multiple locations across the US to improve and sustain the well-being of children and their families. 

She is also co-founder of HERitage Giving Circle, one of the first Black women Giving Circles in the state of Texas and co-founder of both Power in Action-Dallas and the South Dallas Employment Project.

Mione Plant is an artist, writer and a recovering perfectionist.

Throughout her decade-long career in engineering, Mione - inspired by The Artist’s Way - took slow and incremental steps to rediscover her creativity while realigning with her curiosities. Eventually Mione left her career to pursue her creativity as a full-time artist.

Today, Mione pulls from her lived experiences and challenges to inspire a body of work rich with meaning and thoughtful transformation. Influenced by her daily practice of morning journaling, Mione weaves both visual and written stories of her personal breakthroughs and discoveries.

Mione believes we are all artists, and paints visual reminders to herself and her viewers to pay attention to the beauty and wonder around us, to listen for and follow our curiosities, and to play.

While her stories hold a consistent undertone of letting go of fear, Mione - inspired by the reconnection with her child-self along with raising her young son - infuses each painting with levity and playfulness. Lindsay Androski serves as President and CEO of Roivant Social Ventures. Ms. Androski joined Roivant Sciences as one of its earliest employees, and built and led the team responsible for the in-licensing or acquisition of more than 30 therapeutic programs, resulting in the launch and incubation of 16 subsidiary biotechs and several successful IPOs.

Ms. Androski has likewise demonstrated a longstanding commitment to public service, including by serving on the MIT Alumni Association Board, as Chair of the MIT Annual Fund Board, on the Board of the Women Lawyers Association of LA, and on the Leadership Council of the LA Center for Law and Justice.
