I'm starting this week off with an exciting announcement! 

Let me introduce you to Meadowlark's assistants for 2024! These two are amazing, and I'm excited for all the good times ahead.

"Hi I'm Liv! A Fargo native currently assisting businesses in the IT industry with credit card processing while transitioning into a full-time videographer. When I'm not working, you'll find me hanging out with my fur bestie, Ripley, hosting bible study, scrapbooking, or spending time with friends and family. Fun fact about me: I'm a lefty, part of that exclusive 10% and have perfected the art of smudged handwriting."

"Griffin is a business consultant with a love for content creation, which has sparked his journey into videography! Griffin always brings fun energy and a good laugh to anything he’s doing. He and his wife are proud plant parents that are looking to add a third when the time is right. 😉 He used to play football at UND but now lives in enemy bison territory! During the summers, you can find Grif eating at a good restaurant (and sitting outside), at a thrift store, or your nearest pickleball court."

In case we haven’t met, I’m Janna, the driving force behind Meadowlark Films. 👋🏼

This summer looked a little different for us. We became parents to the sweetest, cutest, most particular little girl. 💕

Small businesses are pretty neat! You better believe every time we get a booking, Kyle, EJ and I are having a dance party in the kitchen.

Every frame I film, every minute I edit, every memory I preserve - it’s all for them. My little family. 🥹

It’s officially baby week! ✨

I keep pinching myself because I can’t believe we’re here, about to become parents!

I won’t lie it’s been interesting figuring out what it looks like as a business owner to have a baby in the peak of wedding season. I’m so grateful to all our video friends who have stepped up and helped out with filming weddings this summer. And just generally encouraged me and been excited for us! We feel so blessed to be in such an amazing vendor community.

Also, I say this all the time but our clients are THE best. They’ve been so kind to me as I try to figure out getting their edits done and their weddings filmed and it just means the world to me that they have been so understanding. We have some exciting news! ✨

As I (Janna) approach my maternity leave, we needed someone who could fill in the gaps as our video assistant for the summer.

💃🏼 Enter Marissa - the perfect addition to our team.

✨ She is an art teacher turned photographer/videographer with an amazing creative eye and even better personality. She brings excitement, creativity and fun to every room she walks in!

🦙 At home, her husband is holding down the fort with their two cutie kids. Her secret dream is to own alpacas and she’s even learned to spin fiber into yarn!

Her claim to fame is winning a pageant in 1st grade in her hometown that they never held again, so she’s technically the reigning Little Miss Golden Valley County. 💁🏼‍♀️

This picture is perfect because I (Janna) was the one who dragged Kyle into this business.

My love for making films has been lifelong - it started at a young age with my parent’s camcorder and a big imagination, but being a solo videographer is no fun.

I’m thankful to have a teammate like Kyle who never says no and always supports my goals, dreams, and aspirations. Even though he works two other jobs, he’s always cheerful on wedding days. As a bonus, he is a really good videographer!

I couldn’t do this job without all his support that goes far beyond wedding days. He makes me coffee in the morning, he encourages me, prays for me, and let’s me know that I can STOP scrolling on Musicbed and trust my gut with that very first song I picked 😂

The point is, there would be no Meadowlark Films without this guy, and it’s good to remember that every once in a while 👍🏼

👋🏼 hello to all the new faces around here…

It’s been a while, so I wanted to reintroduce ourselves. We are Janna & Kyle - the 🤍 and soul behind Meadowlark

Despite (because of?😉) being in peak wedding season, we’ve been on a mission lately to craft the world’s best made-at-home latte. ☕️

I, Janna, have decided lately that August is my new favorite month. 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m a hoodie and sweats kinda girl so the fall crisp in the air makes me so excited!!

Kyle has been just slammed with all his fantasy football drafts this week - what a time to be alive!

We also should mention our bernedoodle, Sophie, is just as cute as ever and is great company for the long hours of editing.

Did you know there are 3 types of fun?!

Type🥇includes things that are actually fun and most people would find enjoyable. Going to the beach, getting a pedicure, eating at a good restaurant etc. 🍹☀️💅🏼

Then there’s type✌🏼…
This type of fun is not great in the moment but is fun to look back on. Things like hiking, camping, getting caught in a rainstorm, getting lost, getting sick while deep sea fishing, having cockroaches in your Airbnb… 🏕✈️🥾

Type 3 includes things that are never fun and looking back on them is just painful. Some examples are: getting food poisoning while traveling that lasts 3 weeks, getting caught in a time share presentation… 🥴

Kyle is all about the type 1 fun, while I love a good bad experience 😂…

One of Kyle’s least favorite type 2 activities is camping. One time we were camping with friends in Colorado. We told stories of bear attacks before going to bed - Kyle didn’t sleep a wink the entire night and was a real 🐻 the next day!

As much as I tease him, Kyle is a good sport. He didn’t bat an eye when I told him we were going to take pictures in a rain storm with Prism Photography I’ve never been so cold, but it was so worth it because these are my favorite pictures ever taken of us!

You’re going to want your sound on.😭

Nicole wrote some of the most beautiful vows I’ve ever heard. This stunning Cancun wedding didn’t go as planned at all, and yet it turned out perfect 🤍

One of my favorite moments is when Nicole walks down the aisle and is taking it all in - it wasn’t the beautiful beachside ceremony they planned for, but I think it was better.

Oh hey 🌵….

There are a lot of new faces around here so I wanted to introduce ourselves again.

We are Janna + Kyle - the married duo behind the lens of meadowlark films.

Did you know that we are both super competitive? We love board games, sports or any competitions really.

When we used to live in Denver and flew a lot we had a game we would play… the contest was who is the better traveler.

(Kyle lived abroad most of his life so there’s really no doubt he is the better traveler, but the game started when he messed something up.)

We were in the airport, and he had dropped his boarding pass and ID on the ground. I made a joke about how he should stick with me since I was such a world traveler. Things escalated from there…

When you’d walk up to the check in desk you’d better have your id and boarding pass ready with no searching. Going through security we would pick separate lines and see who could get through faster. On the tram we would have balancing contests, and coming up the escalator you had better already know where your gate was and turn in the right direction 😂

Our latest contest has been to watch our films together and claim, “oh that’s my shot”, whenever we see a good one. It’s always a lot of fun on wedding days working together and challenging ourselves to grow and keep getting better as videographers. 😉

All in all I’m so grateful to have such a fun person to do business and life with.

Winter weather headed our way but all I can think about is how fun the snow is.

Seriously, it is such a blast to have a new color palette after the tones of fall!

and Cody were so much fun to work with. The dogs were everywhere and it was chaotic but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Can’t wait to film them again in July!

It’s not my job to make you look good…

About 99 percent of my couples tell me “we are so awkward in front of the camera” or “I hope you can make us look good.”

Truth is, I already think you look great!

My approach is to make you feel comfortable. I love to get you moving, laughing and talking so that you can forget about the camera and focus on having fun!

The result? Pure MAGIC!

We’re SO excited to work with all these amazing vendors and film Britt and trevs big day!

Brittany and Trevor are getting married this weekend at the beautiful RiverHaven Events Center!

When the pair met through a mutual friend 5 years ago in Grand Forks, they had no idea that they would end up together. In fact, Brittany wasn't entirely impressed with what she thought of as the “loud and obnoxious” guy in the group. That didn't stop
Trevor from egging her on though, as she was the perfect target for his playful attention. Although it wasn't love at first sight (or even second or third), a relationship soon blossomed between the two of them once they got to know one another and formed
a bond.

Their wedding was nothing like they had planned, but it ended up being perfect.

You've heard this story a million times - couple plans huge wedding in 2020, gets married with 14 people in attendance.

Andy and Catie were planning to have us film their wedding last summer. Instead, we filmed them at the North Shore this summer.

I don't think I'll ever forget this evening on the water and the sunrise.

Long distance (ND to NC) couldn't keep Hailey Haverland and Jared Haverland apart, Covid couldn't didn't stop their intimate, winter wedding from being gorgeous, and a smaller party didn't stop them from having a blast.

I am in love with the beauty, resiliency and laughter of this day. Thanks for trusting us to tell your story!

We took some time to rest.

I haven’t posted much here lately because July was a busy month with big changes and much needed time away from filming weddings.

Here’s what’s new:

- Kyle left his 9/5 counseling job to pursue his dream of owning his own practice.
- We hosted kyle’s family for a week and showed our nieces and nephews all the reasons they should be begging their parents to move here 🐴⛵️⛺️
- somehow survived a night camping with 6 kids ages 3-12 😅
- we finally celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary with a staycation at Fargo’s brand new .fargo hotel. Complete with a meal at the amazing

Top 3 reasons why I think you should!👇🏼

A lot of couples feel like they will be too awkward on video… in fact, I would say 99% of the people I’ve filmed ask me if they look awkward and stiff.

When you hire a good videographer, they are professionals at putting you at ease and never making you look awkward.

1. Get comfortable in front of a 📷

We don’t expect you to be used to being filmed but it sure helps ease wedding day nerves when you realize how easy it is to be in front of our camera.

2. An engagement film is just another way to capture beautiful moments that become memories for generations to come.

3. You get to know your videographer!

This is SO important. You spend the majority of your wedding day with your photographer and videographer - don’t you want to know them?

I can always tell when couples are best friends. It was a joy to be apart of Hunter and Grace’s special day and feel the joy, love and connection between them and their family and friends. It was a beautiful, emotional day that ended with a double rainbow!🌈🌈

I just wanted to take a minute to brag on this amazing human.

Not only has she been a mentor and welcomed me into the fargo wedding vendor community with open arms, she has also become a dear friend who has been there for me. Today, we got to shoot a wedding together!

I’m still pinching myself everyday that I get to do this for a living. Friends like Julia just make life fun!
