Today’s gift bouquet 💐😊

This size bouquet is €45 delivered to your door. We also offer a €30 & a €60 size. DM for order & payment link.

Our next local free delivery is available on Friday 19th July between 12.30 & 3.30pm (Glenbeigh/Killorglin/Castlemaine/Tralee/Killarney - delivery free).

Nettie’s flowers are entirely grown by us without chemical fertilisers or pesticides and are not dipped in chemical fungicides to preserve them.

We never, ever, sell imported flowers from flower wholesalers. (Grown in Europe, South Africa, USA, Mexico, Columbia, Israel, Kenya, Ecuador…)

Our flowers are all grown at the foot of the Reeks in Co. Kerry; no air miles, just good Kerry air (often moving very quickly 🌬️🍃), soft Kerry rain (when it’s not flogging 🌧️ ) and bright Kerry sunshine (😬)..

❤️ homegrown = ❤️ 🌍

The sitting room looks like a bomb hit it! … a flower bomb, at any rate 😆💣💐

Either the sitting room or kitchen doubles up as my dried flower studio at this time of year 😬 …Some day I’ll have an actual studio 😆🤞💐

I’m so excited to have a lovely variety of flowers dried already and I’m putting together some 45-50cm dried bouquets today (yes, that’s tall for dried). I’ll get them on my website in the next week or so, or feel free to DM to enquire/order 😊👍

All of our dried flowers are grown by us, chemical free, and dried naturally with no dyes, bleaches or chemicals.

I got a gift of a glue gun recently (best present ever! 🎁)… so I started to play..

Here is a small pin-on corsage, or buttonhole alternative, made from dried flowers..

What do you think?

We felt the “June gap” a lot more keenly this year, having lost our early season crop along with the polytunnel during Storm Kathleen.

However, flowers are slowly starting to come through (though the cool weather isn’t helping 😆)

We’ll be offering more locally grown flowers very soon. For now they adorn our house 😁

Locally grown flowers are not only 5-10% the carbon footprint of imported flowers, they are also ethically grown and chemical free. Our flowers are grown without chemical fertilisers or pesticides and are not dipped in chemical fungicides to preserve them.

They are grown chemical free just outside Killorglin in County Kerry, to bring natural beauty, scent and joy!

A gift bouquet from last Saturday 💐

It’s so good to finally have flowers coming through after loosing our early crops in the Storm Kathleen tunnel disaster 😆

Still a lot to catch up on, but it’s difficult to stay stressed when you’re surrounded by plants and flowers 😊🌺🌷🌻🌸

Snippet of a gift bouquet delivered yesterday.

They were a gift sent by a lovely lady in the USA to her friend in Kerry. Flowers are such a lovely way to keep in touch or remind a loved one that we’re thinking of them. ❤️

And it’s even better when they are low impact, grown in the same county and without any harmful chemicals 🥰💐

This is my favourite tool - the broad fork.

I use it to decompact the soil in the beds before adding organic fertiliser and raking them level. Using this system means I don’t destroy the soil structure.

It was great to have some dry weather on Tuesday and get some bed prep done.

Just need a little more of that day weather now please 🙏😆🥴

…Another to add to your collection 😆

I’m not really able to say much more about it right now 😭

I will have more tulips later this week though - I’ll keep y’all posted 😊💐

So this is my uniform! I certainly needed it this morning 🌧️

The second photo is of the tulips when just pulled. I pull the whole tulip, including bulb. It means I can just pull them up and lie them in a crate and run inside.

I put a couple of sticks across the crate, stand it up and then hose down the bases of the stems and the bulbs.. then out they come and I snip off the bulbs and put the tulips in deep, cold water to condition. I use paper to wrap up the tulips while they drink - it keeps the stems straight. Then they’re all perky and ready to be made into bouquets later in the day 😊

Thanks again to everyone I delivered to this afternoon, have a warm, dry weekend everyone & stay safe 💐

Anyone fancy a frilly tulip bouquet to brighten up a stormy weekend? I harvested some tulips this morning, conditioned them for a few hours and they’re great, so I’m doing a big harvest in the morning 😊

All of our flowers are grown just outside Killorglin at the foot of the Reeks (that makes them magic flowers), and with no chemical input and all natural fertilisers used, they are safe for you and your family.

I will be delivering on tomorrow, Friday afternoon (5th April) between 4 & 6:30pm so that I too can batten down the hatches for the coming storm.

Tulip bouquets are €32 and Delivery is FREE to Killorglin, Caragh, Glenbeigh, Castlemaine, Killarney & Tralee. (If you’re nearby & not sure it applies to you, just DM me, thanks)

To order your tulips, please DM me and I’ll send you a payment link, which will also have a free text field for any delivery instructions or requests.

Thank you, have a cosy weekend everyone & stay safe 💐

Hello from the foothills of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks 😊
I can’t believe we’re not even here a year yet!

Some of the beds are like paddy fields and the tunnel is full of plugs and plants ready to go.. I’m optimistic for a dry spell after Easter, and looking forward to producing loads of fresh and dried flowers for Kerry flower lovers this year 😁💐

Happy Easter everyone 🐣💛

Probably the most sustainable flowers you can buy ☺️ ….Quite a boast and not far off the truth!

Irish grown flowers have about 10% the carbon footprint of imported flowers (or less).

And dried flowers can last a year or two with the right care. What better way is there to fill your life with sustainable floral joy than that 😁 💐💚

I consider myself so lucky and blessed to have found myself living here, just outside Killorglin (where my grandfather was born 😊). I know it was meant to be ‘cos there is not one, but two monkey puzzle trees on our site! 😆

Having grown up in Tralee, and then spent time in Dublin, Galway, abroad and finally 20 years in the UK, I can hardly believe that I’m back home and growing flowers. I was lucky enough to have a great 20 years in England too, of course, working at Kew, Wisley, Chelsea Flower Show, and the National Trust. (If you told me when I was studying in Glasnevin that I’d do all of that I would never have believed you!).

Maybe it’s that full moon, but I just find myself in grateful mood this morning, especially with what’s happening in the world.

I’m sending a thank you out into the universe to everyone who’s helped me in even the tiniest manner along my way.

Happy Monday everyone 😊

It’s time to start making up bouquets & posies for Mother’s Day from the last of the dried flowers! (can you believe Mother’s Day is 2 weeks from Sunday?!).

More to follow shortly about how to get your hands on them 😊

Last pic is this year’s first seedlings of my most popular dried flowers - the lovely pink and white daisies. I’ll grow a lot more this year 😁👍💐

As a small local producer I love to source from other small local producers. I recommended Stefanie’s pottery to someone today and thought I should extend that word-of-mouth recommendation to include anyone reading this (not so many but hey).

I always end up keeping/buying bits for myself and here are my “Stefanie pieces” at home - vase, pinch pot and soap dish.

Check out her Etsy page - just search Stefanie Brussig, and/or follow on Instagram.

Introducing Socks - the newest member of the Nettie’s Flowers team 🐈❤️

She showed up on our doorstep last November; a tiny, scruffy, hungry, squealing ball of fur. And she’s gone from strength to strength, already proving herself to be a hunter. She’ll make a great farm cat 😁

She’s very playful and affectionate too.. and it’s nice to have company in the potting shed 😆🐈

Big thanks to Ark Veterinary Hospital in Killarney for their wonderful care 😊
