Yesterday evening I dropped off a truckload of food that I purchased for NC relief with a fellow farming friend that is going to get it along with tons of other supplies on the road today. I got a few things from this experience: #1 Humbled and proud of my Ellie. She jumped right in to help unload and pack the food without being asked or told. Pure, genuine heart that one is. #2 Thankful for the gratitude, hard work, and dedication of others trying to accomplish the same mission we are. #3 The thoughtfulness and kindness of Jay as he told Ellie that she was an inspiration. She didn’t understand it at first, but I did. He celebrated her, validated her, and supported her in those words. Maybe he didn’t realize it in the moment, but with such simple words he is helping us to build up children that will take these incredible character traits into the future so compassion, charity, and genuine love for all others will continue on past us. Again, I am so thankful and blessed to be able to do these things for others and do them alongside great people! We don’t care where you donate or how it gets to those in need, we just know it needs to be done and we are working hard to make sure it does! Oh my gosh. The last 18 hours have been a little stressful on the heart. We got this calf yesterday from a momma who couldn’t provide milk anymore. This poor little buddy doesn’t know me and he sure doesn’t know what a bottle is. It can takes days to inspire a calf to suck on bottle especially one who is already use to his momma. Some never do at all. Calves like this can be so rewarding, but it can just as easily be so sad. Well, I’m happy to report that I convinced this little fella to take a bottle by lunchtime! 😅 About 14 hours after arriving on the farm. I am so excited and feel so much better about the little guy. He doesn’t have a name yet so I’m open to suggestions!
