On 1 October, in efforts to reduce plastic pollution, more single-use plastic items have been banned in England.
The ban includes:
🚫 Single-use plastic plates, bowls and trays
🚫 Single-use plastic cutlery including knives, forks, spoons, sporks and chopsticks
🚫 Plastic balloon sticks
🚫 Polystyrene cups and containers
Interestingly the ban in England also includes single-use items made from bioplastics. These are plastics made from an organic source like corn starch and sugar cane rather than oil.
Switching to reusables, wherever possible, is the best way to reduce both our waste and our carbon footprint. This is why our party kits offer such a practical alternative to single-use plastic tableware. 🥳

This is similar to bans already in place in Scotland, the EU and many other countries and states around the world.
Interestingly the ban in England also includes single-use items made from bioplastics. These are plastics made from an organic source like corn starch and sugar cane rather than oil.
One of the alternatives is to switch to single-use items made from a natural material like wood, paper, cardboard, bamboo and even palm leaves. These will breakdown after use much more quickly than plastics, and don't leave behind any nasty toxins.
However switching to reusables, wherever possible, is the best way to reduce both our waste and our carbon footprint. This is why our party kits offer such a practical alternative to single-use plastic tableware. 🥳
If you're not based in England, has your country / state already banned these items?
What do you think the impact has been?
