Daring to be different, a character building summer…
We’re officially on the downward slope of summer break, over halfway through the (far from) lazy days of summer ☀️
Back in late May/early June, amidst the end of school chaos, I felt overwhelmed and behind with the garden. Flowers were spent, beds needed flipping, seeds left unsown, and a sense of “will it ever get done?”
But here’s what I’ve learned in the past couple of weeks—what seemed like mounding pressure to accomplish some endless task list turned out to be a blessing.
A glance at notes from last season gave me a nudge to take a deep breath and soak in summer with our girls. Later sown seeds have allowed several weeks of fewer flower demands, time to plan for an abundant fall, and flexibility to enjoy the summer days.
We recently celebrated our oldest entering double digits and this birthday felt bigger, a moment to sit up and take notice—the sweet days with our girls playing endlessly and encouraging the value of “built in friends” via sisters are limited.
So as we soak in these last weeks of summer, I want to say thank you for understanding, allowing our family to press pause on the flowers and making room for summer adventures.
Here’s to a beautiful summer weekend, making more memories to recall when the colder months arrive 💛
ps— We’re headed to Brevard and would love any insider tips for waterfall chasing! 🌄
