Hey Everyone! I know things have been very quiet over the last couple of months and I wanted to give you all a little update.
8 weeks ago today I had surgery to repair my ankle. A simple slip on the gravel at home saw me break both my Tibia and Fibula. They were bad breaks and required plates and screws to repair it and a 4 day stay in hospital. The recovery has not been straight forward and I have only just come out of a cast and into a moonboot with very minimal weightbaring at this stage. My knee scooter is my best mate at the moment! I have a physio assessment this Friday and am doing everything in my power to get back up and running as soon as I can. Recovery is going to be a long painful road and at this stage we have no idea when I will be back in the kitchen. I will give you another update in about 6 weeks. XOXO

Due to a wee accident, The Poppy Kitchen will be closed until further notice. At this stage at least 6 weeks but likely a bit longer.
Bookings that will be affected have been contacted.
Still taking bookings and enquiries for later in the year and next year.

I hope everyone survived the cyclone without too much damage. All my family are in Gisborne so it was a stressful week as well as lots of catering going out. I didn't get photos of everything and they were all "drop off" jobs that I didn't set up.
Last weekend saw Lunch boxes and dinners (no pics) go out to a dancing comp for the officials. Fri-Sun.
A morning tea for 20 followed by an afternoon tea for 100.

This weekend I had the pleasure of catering a wedding celebration on the couples 1st Anniversary. Due to Covid, the couple had to cancel their wedding more than once so decided to get married and celebrate with friends and family at a later date. ❤️

MARKET UPDATE:
I want to thank everyone who has come and supported me at the Hokowhitu & Summerhill Farmers Markets. It has been wonderful to meet so many of you and have you coming back to see me each month.
I have made the difficult decision to have a break from the markets while I focus on the main aspect of my business which is catering. You can still place an order for baked goodies and these will be made to order and available in slabs or 1/2 slabs for slices and biscuits will be by the batch.
If you need catering for anything from a small morning tea through to a larger event like a wedding and everything in between, please contact me to discuss customizing a menu to suit your event.

These platters along with platters of Brownie were packaged up and headed out of town for a wedding a couple of hours away. Crackers & additional platters were supplied for the clients and their helpers to set up at the venue. These were served between the ceremony and reception. Congratulations to the happy couple!

If you are wanting catering for an event, message me and I can give you a call to have a chat and customize something specific to your event. I prefer to customize catering so you get what you want without having to choose from a set menu.

Happy New Years everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years and got a bit of a break.
The Poppy Kitchen will be focusing more on Catering this year. Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversarys, Corporate & Work Functions, Funerals, Baby Showers etc.

I am currently working on some catering menus to share with you soon.
If you are planning on having an event and need catering, please feel free to message me to discuss options. It is a good idea to book in as early as possible as I have had to turn a number of people away who have left booking too late and spaces were full.

I know its a bit late but I will be posting some pics later of some of the things The Poppy Kitchen did in December.

The Poppy Kitchen is closed until the 9th of January. Thank you for all your support this year. I am looking forward to a much needed break. I feel a bit like this pic!

This week is the last week to get your orders in for your Traditional Christmas Cakes. Next week will be the last week of baking them. Delivery available to Palmerston North, Feilding, Gisborne, Wanganui, Waiouru and everywhere in between!
The fruit is soaked for 3 days before baking and the cake is soaked in brandy before leaving to mature. Christmas Cakes will be baked in order of who has confirmed. Cakes will not be confirmed until payment has been recieved. Sizes below are the uniced cake size.
Small 20cm $55 Gluten Free/Dairy Free $60
Medium 23cm $70 Gluten Free/ Dairy Free $75
Large 31cm $130 Gluten Free/Dairy Free $140.
You can choose either Fondant, Nuts or Half and Half (Half & Half is an additional $5 for small and medium or $10 for Large)
Orders will close for Traditional Cakes end of November or when at capacity.
Delivery to Waiouru, Wanganui and Gisborne will be available in December with a small charge for delivery. Date of delivery to be confirmed.

Have you got a kids birthday coming up? From $15 per person (minimum numbers apply) you can have a Kids Grazing Table or Grazing Lunch Boxes. The Grazing Tables can be themed where possible. One of the recent ones I did was for a wee girl who wanted a 'Fairy Mushroom" theme.
