New book cover coming soon. Its so hard to figure out what says the right thing about the story and keeping the cover simple.
Looks like early October for publishing this new book.
Just got back an edited version of the book from English professor Glenn Berggoetz. We are getting closer to publication.
While my book is going through the editing process, I'm having fun playing with the books final formatting, look and feel, before publishing on, well you know, Amazon.com
The first draft of "Georgia Jacobs - Rise of Power" novel is done. Its in the hands of some great reviewers/editors.
I got a little distracted over the last couple months, but I'm back to it and have 23 chapters (roughly 48K words) done. My shadow editor is excited to see the final chapters where the action gets even more intense.
Chapter 14 is finally done. My shadow editors seem to be liking how the book is progressing, so going to keep writing...
Well, I got stalled a little bit over the last couple months, but got back to it and chapters 12 & 13 are done. That makes it about half way through the book. This sure does take a while :-)
Chapters 7 thru 11 are done. Still more to do.
Chapter 6 of the novel is done. I've written scripts and plays before, but novels are a whole lot more work.
Chapters 1 and 2 are complete. Looks I'm on track for finishing by end of March 2022, but still lots of work to be done.
Well, the novel version is in the works. I've taken the original movie script as the main story line and am adding some elements from the play version that work really we for developing Georgia's character and her interaction with Padiddle. In this first chapter ("Padiddle gets his name") of the novel, we place the story's setting clearly in the Colorado and meet Padiddle who is up against our main villain, Lord Decker.
Has it really been 2 years since I posted on this? Sure has. Wow time flies. (Family matters took priority, as it should) Over the past 2 years, I have re-written Georgia as a play and am now re-writing as the book. I'm taking the original screen play and creating a novel. In the first chapter we introduce two of the main characters of Padiddle and Lord Decker.
Today Tim Gallagher was one of the judges at Palmer Ridge High School's 1 Act Play competition. It was a wonderful day of great performances. Congrats to all who participated.
The story of Georgia Jacobs came out of wanting to mix magic directly into a story. I took the premise of the Salem with trials (see Salem Witch Museum) and how George Jacobs was accused and not caught. With that I started the story of George traveling to CO and settling in the Rocky Mountains southwest of Sedalia, Colorado at the Devil's Head Lookout tower, which is referred to in the story as "The Valley".
Tim Gallagher has done lots of experimental stories and short films. One of his most popular is Sweeping Changes, filmed in MiniDV way back before HD. Its fun and almost 600,000 views can't be wrong: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVNSovRPioM&t=258s
Tim Gallagher plays a husband whose vacuum cleaners rebel against him when he wants to replace the vacuums with newer technology: the robo-vac.

Producing this play is going to be a new challenge for me. I've written plays and have been in them but have never produced one. As with most plays, the trick is making sure the budget is in line with the expected ticket sales. So, we'll be doing a fund raiser/ticket presales soon.
I first got interested in magic as a kid, which is what usually happens. A friend took me to see Doug Henning in The Magic Shos (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Show) and I was hooked. Thought some day I'll write my own show that has magic built into the story. So, I took a few hints from this show, and Harry Potter (of course) and wrote Georgia Jacobs.
The Magic Show is a one-act musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Bob Randall. It starred magician Doug Henning. Produced by Edgar Lansbury, it opened on May 28, 1974 at the Cort Theatre in Manhattan, and ran for 1,920 performances, closing on December 31, 1978. Henning was...

Did you know? Georgia Jacobs was written originally as a movie. The scenes were big (lots of background actors), action packed, complicated and visually intriguing. The play version has is a different look at the same story, with less characters, but still as complicated and visually stunning. It will even include magically illusions that will blow you away when you see it live. All will be designed by Joe Givan specifically to fit this new story.
The Short description:
A modern story about a Colorado girl, Georgia Jacobs, who is part of the ancient wizard society of Devil's Head valley and the sudden appearance of an evil spirit she must reluctantly destroy.
Introduction
“Georgia Jacobs” was written by award winning film writer and producer Tim Gallagher, and he is producing it with a partnership with the Dream Master's award winning master illusionist Joe Givan of Castle Rock, CO.
Its a modern day story about a young girl in Colorado, Georgia Jacobs, who has been sheltered from the ancient wizard society of Devil's Head valley until she is old enough to participate. The sudden appearance of an evil spirit, the Sprari, hastens the need to engage Georgia and train her in the wizard arts. Her initial reluctance soon gives way to a deeper understanding of herself and why she has felt different her whole life. As she comes to terms with her new life, and learns magic, she helps the wizard community defeat the evil spirit.
The Team
Tim Gallagher is a film screen writer, producer and editor as well as a songwriter. For his film Gerald about a lovable mentally challenged bowler, starring Louis Mandylor and Mickey Rooney, he received best picture at the Chinese Film Festival and best screenplay at the Downbeach film festival. His movie Auto Shop of Horrors, a campy horror, was filmed in Castle Rock and employed a local band for its theme song, with all the actors from Colorado.
Joe Givan is a master illusionist winning many national and international awards. Over the years he has performed at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, on Television, and many other venues around the world, but has settled in Castle Rock creating the Theatre of Dreams with Carol. He is known for developing new illusions, some of which are sold only to other magicians and only a select few that can be bought by the public. He brings a creativity and enthusiasm to the “Georgia” project that compliments Tim's enthusiasm for telling the story. Together, their goal is not only to present a wonderful evening of story telling and magic, but also to usher in a different style of magic.
