I’ve never been one for New Year’s resolutions but this year, I’m pumped! 2023 was full of growth and change for Rivka Holzer Events. We got an intern, hired a social media manager (hi Annie!), launched our website, got written up in the paper, rebranded as a luxury event company, took on gorgeous new clients, made dreams come true, and all around kicked ass. I could not be more excited for 2024. I have a lot of goals for this year and can’t wait to get started.

If you don’t normally light Shabbat candles, please do so this Friday night. We need more light in this world.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe also cited this Mitzvah as something to help the Jewish people through a dark time.

The reality is that while there is a physical war going on in Israel, there is a social media war going on at the same time. As a business owner, I have learned the crucial importance of social media marketing. I have poured tens of thousands of dollars into learning how to market my business on social media in an authentic and genuine way. With everything going on, I feel it is my duty to take those skills and apply them here. I will be sharing what is going on in Israel. (I’m sure at some point I’ll also be sharing what is happening with events. It’s tough balancing the trauma with the trivial). I’ve learned from my various social media coaches that quality and quantity are both important but quantity often wins.
So I encourage you to post, to share, to like, to save. Spread the message of the atrocities that are happening to the Jewish people and Israel and what we are doing to fight back. Hopefully my newfound skills will be put to good use. Sending all my love 🇮🇱

As I embarked on the journey to create this styled shoot, I was driven by a vision that dared to push boundaries and break new ground. While styled shoots are a familiar concept in the wedding industry, I was about to introduce a whole new dimension to the world of Jewish weddings. It was an uncharted territory, both for me and the talented vendors who joined me in this venture. The excitement of pioneering something innovative coursed through my veins.

Three photographers and two videographers joined me on this venture. I’ll be starting with and will continue posting and giving credit where immense credit and gratitude are due!

Here’s how I went from catering manager to running a successful event planning company:

1. Back in 2017, I found myself immersed in the vibrant world of a high-end boutique kosher catering company. As a fresh face in the startup culture, I was thrown into the deep end and had to learn the art of swimming (and orchestrating unforgettable weddings) in no time!
2. Deep down, I always nurtured the dream of opening my very own company, but honestly, I never thought it could become a reality.
3. When the unexpected arrival of COVID sent shockwaves through the events industry, I felt utterly lost. I made a pivot towards livestream weddings, but deep in my heart, I knew it wasn't my true passion. Then, as the world gradually reopened, my longing to build my own company reignited like a blazing fire.
4. One serene Friday night, while lying in bed, I asked myself a simple yet profound question: "What's holding you back from bringing your own event planning dreams to life?" The answer struck me with force—it was FEAR! It had me trembling in its grip.

Three things you need to STOP 🛑 doing if you want to have the wedding 👰🏼‍♀️ of your dreams:
1. Not having a clear budget – you need to get very clear on who is paying for what. It’s not always a comfortable conversation to have, but it is entirely necessary! You can’t plan a wedding if you don’t know how much you have to spend.
2. Calling to many vendors – have you heard of the paradox of choice? Sometimes, when there are too many options, it feels even harder to choose one! We recommend getting quotes from 2 to 4 vendors in each category max!
3. Trying to do it all yourself – humans aren’t meant to do it alone and wedding planning is no different. Ask for support when you need it. If people are asking to help, assign them tasks! And hiring a wedding planner, who knows or Market can be invaluable – we have a wealth of knowledge, so the research is already done!

Then before you even put down the bottle of champagne, everyone is asking you a million questions about your wedding that you don’t have the answers to! Where is it? What’s the date? Details are what take a wedding from ordinary to extraordinary. My biggest advice to you when planning your wedding is to focus on what YOU care about and what speaks the most to the two of you as a couple. Mariah loved the idea of each guest going home with a succulent that they would remember her and Ari’s special day by. Pick what is important to YOU, not what Pinterest, Instagram, or your cousin’s best friend’s aunt said she wishes she’d done. Your wedding is about the two of you. Make sure the details reflect that.
