While tulips are the current star, I’ve been working on all the rising stars on the farm who will be making their appearances later in the season. Verbascum and foxglove got planted this weekend as well as all the lily bulbs.

I’ve gotten about half of a new stock of 70 peonies planted in and I’m simultaneously working to get all 60 rose bushes fertilized and mulched in.

And let’s not even talk about the 100+ perennials and 100s of dahlias yet to go in.

The warm weather today really gave all the tulips and daffodils a push to burst open. Which means LOTS OF EASTER BOUQUETS.

Come pick out a bouquet or two on Saturday for your Easter table or to gift to your Easter host.

Bouquets will be $20 each and they are first come, first serve. There is a chance we may run out like last year so come early to have the choice pick.

Pickup is this Saturday from 9-11am at 415 Dubois St. in Washington.

Oh, the beauty of garden roses! Currently my favorite flower and I’m building up quite the collection of specialty garden rose bushes in shades of yellows, apricots, pinks, whites, and purples. After a few more years of establishment they will really crank out the blooms.

Easter bouquets and arrangements coming!! I was out pulling tulips today and there is just so much in bloom right now!! Daffodils, tulips, lilacs, and bluebells all ready for Easter this weekend. These tulips are headed to the cooler to get hydrated and prepped with many more to follow. I’m going to be doing some Easter bouquets and mason jar arrangements for pickup this weekend in Washington. In an effort to gauge how much I should prep for, leave a ❤️ on this post if you’d be interested in picking up flowers this weekend. Everything will probably be in the $15-$20 range. You can always buy multiple bouquets too if you need large Easter table arrangements! 😉

Out in the flowers today. I got these photos just as raindrops started to fall on my screen. The columbine are glowing and you can see the daffodils peeking out behind them too. The last of the hydroponic tulips are being bundled up into bouquets today. I have all of these gorgeous red orange tulips that were the last to bloom.

My next blooms coming will be the 2,000+ daffodils that are just poking up from their beds. Those should be ready for the last weeks of March thru April. Then the 1,500 tulips in the fields will bloom along with the lilacs in time for Easter and the 1,000 ranunculus and snapdragons will hopefully provide lots of blooms for Mother’s Day.

Beautiful tulips still going strong one week after harvest. I love how the petals start to curl back as they age. Little fact: Did you know tulip stems grow in length in the vase? Make sure you are replacing your vase water every 2-3 days and make sure the water is cold to keep tulips fresh and vibrant.

We are at the Plush Home and Fashion Streetside Market today from 9am-2pm. It is on the corner of Elm and 4th St. in Washington.

From field to cut flowers to bouquets.

I have loads of bouquets for you to take and brighten your home today. There are premium lily bouquets for $25 and cottage garden bouquets for $18.

Last peonies of the season! I snapped this photo on a whim as I was harvesting this evening. There was something so beautiful and simple about it that I just fell in love with.

These peonies will be going in Sunday bouquets as well as some of our field flowers such as calendula daisies, bachelor buttons, larkspur, statice, Shirley poppies, etc. Bouquets will be delivered Sunday between 10am-12pm. Delivery will still be contactless. Leave a vase/bucket full of water on your porch if you will be out for a little while during that time and we’ll put them right in.

Field flowers are coming on strong this week and I’m so relieved to see the first annual (field) flowers of the 2020 flower season. These flowers have been a long time coming. With seeds started in January and February, it is so good to see the flowers of my labor finally blooming. Every flower that is included in our bouquets has been at least 4 months in the making. From planning fields, to purchasing seeds, to germination, fertilization, planting, and finally ending in beautiful blooms. It’s a crazy long time, but it makes it so much more worthwhile when everything comes together.

I will have to walk the field every day to get the poppies, bachelor buttons, and calendula daisies that will bloom this week before the rain destroys the petals. Shortly behind I’ll have stock, nigella, bee balm, larkspur, and loads more.

Flowers are coming up everywhere. I am so backed up on planting that I have flowers already blooming in the greenhouse before I can get them into the field. I was so busy this week getting in loads of perennials, roots, 30+ new rose bushes, 30+ peonies, and 100+ lilies that I’m hitting the planting of annuals hard tomorrow and Monday, even if it’s raining.
