Normally I don’t do stuff like this, but I was watching old Stevie Ray Vaughn performances this morning when I came across one that he had done 35 years ago at Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. While performing “Life Without You,” SRV pauses mid song to make a quick sermon that we all need to hear. Ray Vaughn went on to say this:
“We live in a world where people keep trying to push each other down, instead of pick each other up. We’re all here to help each other and love each other as brothers and sisters. We’ve got one chance in this life, to learn to love everybody else and treat them like we would treat ourselves, or forget it. Let’s all try to learn a few things and pick each other up when we’re down. Why push someone down when you can help them up, who’s with me?”
Then he continued to perform and play the guitar behind his back and it’s honestly been one of the best YouTube videos I’ve ever stumbled across. Rest In Peace to one of the greatest to ever wield a guitar, Stevie Ray Vaughn.
