Tonight we’re at Burnley Youth Fest promoting our Music or Lose It project.

If you’re aged 13 - 25 and interested in learning how to DJ, rap or make music on a laptop join us at Gannow Community Centre on Wednesday nights. The sessions are free, led by professional musicians and we bring all the equipment you need. Come along and give it a go.

On Saturday 3rd December, we are hosting an event from which all ticket sales will be donated to the Anthony Walker Foundation. They are a Liverpool based anti-racism charity, established in 2006 after the racially motivated murder of 18 year old Anthony Walker.

The Anthony Walker Foundation works to tackle racism, hate crime and discrimination by providing educational opportunities, victim support services and by promoting equity and inclusion for all.

We are so excited to announce our next event - a collaboration with MainRoom, a new event series livestreamed by Stream GM .

On Saturday 29th October, we will be bringing up two co-headliners from Bristol - a Manchester debut from Alpha's Trip Records boss A For Alpha , and a welcome return for Femmes On Decks member Lily Huu.

They will be taking to the intimate space of YES basement, for what's set to be a night for the books 🤩

MainRoom will have a professional film crew streaming the event - plus it's Halloween, so make sure you've got your best costumes on for the cameras 😈🎃

It's that time again for our show and this month we have at the helm!

DJ Mimi is a self taught DJ with an eclectic style and expansive music library. Her style ranges from afrobeats to funky house to dnb and there’s no stopping in between. She is dedicated to merging only the grooviest tracks that make people wanna move whilst exploring her identity through this fusion of genres.

She started DJing two years ago in Mauritius and has been on a rollercoaster journey since, now mixing to various crowds across the UK, performing at UK Black Pride and The Mauritian Open Air Festival and hosting her own show on Platform B Radio, Mimi is having the time of her life and is excited for the mixes, parties, events and shows to come in the future!

All Mimi’s recorded mixes are freestyle, one of her favourite parts of DJing is seeing where the moment goes and creating spontaneous pieces of melodic art that spans across time, genre, identity and culture.

Last weekend, we lost one of our biggest supporters, our first fan and a great friend.

Charlie Williams was the first to share everything we put out. Privately, he was there for me when I needed to rant or advice. He was dead set that I wasn't going to let promoters push me around, or agents overcharge.

He always had somewhere to be and someone to meet, which I think has been reflected in the outpour of love from every corner of the world over the past week.

We've paused our mix series this week, and instead have uploaded Charlie's last Limbo Radio show, with his good friend Zz, The Slept On. I have the best memories of being in the studio during this show, I love the signature Charlie banter in the background. He had a habit of standing too close and spitting a bit when he was shouting in your ear in the dance, which I never thought I would miss like this. Everything was so important and exciting to him, and I'm so grateful for that.

We all have the best memories of Charlie. We're all so lucky to have loved him. Hiya, we wanted to reach out and say a big fat THANK YOU to all of you who’ve had our backs dming us and tagging us in posts these last few weeks - we love you. We figured it’s time we said something publicly, so:

2 weeks ago we became aware that another brand in our space and that we’ve worked with in the past has taken our branding without our permission. Not fu***ng cool. We’ve reached out to them to try and resolve this privately but they’re not interested in a discussion. We’re not going to name and shame them because we don’t need to, but we've included their only response. When they go low, we go high.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been taken advantage of like this, and it won’t be the last time.
We’re a small business built by women. We’ve worked hard over the last 18 months to share over 20 events with you, more than 40 radio shows and countless other line-up appearances. We won’t lie, to see our brand being used in this way without our permission, particularly by a brand that claims to champion women in drum & bass, is SO disappointing. The fact that they have repeatedly been told they don’t have our consent just goes to show they’re all talk - but what else to expect from a brand with a track record of misogynistic behaviour? But we’re not bowing down - we’re here to stay, and so are our pink balaclavas.

We’re here because we all felt that we needed a place within this industry where under-represented DJs could feel safe, supported and respected. Like we always say, we’re all about equal pay, equal opportunity and equal parts spirit and mixer - and plagiarism just isn’t cute babe.

So we’re going to keep putting out mixes, keep throwing parties (Covid compliant obvz) and keep smashing it twice as hard for all the womxn out there. If you’re reading this and you’re an aspiring under-represented DJ, this kind of s**t will happen to you too. Drop a comment under this post and get to know each other, we’re stronger together. Let’s have each other’s backs.
