I will never forget this conversation: I always arrive at least 30 minutes before a ceremony begins, and after checking in with the coordinator and sound, I’m often sitting down waiting for the wedding party lineup time. This time, I was approached by the mother of the groom. When I introduced myself as the couple’s officiant she was a little surprised. “I can’t believe how calm you look, when you’re about to speak in front of all those people.” She went on to share the story of their personal friend who married her and her husband. He was a criminal attorney who spoke in court rooms to hundreds of people for many years. On their wedding day, he was visibly shaking and later told them that he was never so nervous in his life.
That’s because, the responsibility of being the heart and conductor of a once-in-a-lifetime moment is HUGE. So, sometimes prospective customers question my pricing, and I’m hoping they’ll see this pic - moments before a ceremony was about to begin. Calm, confident, ready, and smiling as big as the couple.
