"The Dawghouse" Sports Adult-Animation Situation Comedy has advanced to SEMIFINALIST in the Stage 32 "New Voices in Animation" screenwriting contest!
WHY A SPORTS ANIMATION? Live-action sports programming is a proven multi-billion dollar a year franchise for networks, television affiliates, and streamers across the country. Sports is also Disney's and ESPN's biggest pie chart revenue maker, and since we either follow sports on our devices or watch our kids play it on field, sports has become relatable to 90% of all home dinner table conversations. Yet, to date, there has never been a viable sports animation about battling couples and their obsession with sports.
ABOUT THE TV SHOW: Sports fanatical husband Gus Travis and his sports-widowed wife Ruby, along with their mischievous ball-handling children, Trevor, Cheez, and Chip, make up the central family in this episodic animated series about couples and their fascination with sports, as they follow the serialized sports exploits and zany antics of their undercapitalized, ill-equipped, and underfed hometown football team, owned by a Midwest corn farmer in Bakersfield, USA, on their way to the Super Bowl in a land where sports is king!
THIS SCRIPT & PILOT EPISODE—"RACE TO THE SUPER BOWL." Gus, Ruby, and the Travis family must rid themselves of a sports squatter threatening to take their precious home, as their small hometown football team, The Leatherheads (pictured), take on the NZL Giants.
