Doing a bit more work on the big box of tunics. This one has a slice in the pocket which had caused the fabric to wear thin. I would not have been able to support the weight of awards so I darned it using Feldgrau wool.

Now it's safe to add the award loops ☺️👌

How does a gal spend her Saturday nights? Sewing award loops 😁👌

The owner of this handsome tunic wanted some award loops for his Deutsche Reitterabzeich. I don't have one to hand so had to use my Deutsches Pferdepflege-Abzeichen.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been busy, busy with work, dressage, working on my own uniforms and now reenactment events. There are not enough hours in the day 🤦‍♀️😜

A member of my German group's M36 and M43 tunics needed tresse and insignia adding on as well as darning on the M43. The fabric was so heavily worn and very fragile, so I had to reinforce it with Feldgrau wool thread. It was difficult as the fabric kept breaking away as it was so fragile and worn on the sleeve but it's now strong enough for him to wear it to events again and looks like a period darn.

Well it seems Facebook thinks this page goes against their "community standards" even though the items here are for historical Reenactment only and we not condone any of the political ideals of the time. 🤦‍♀️🙄 We are for EDUCATION only.

And so we move onto another DRK nurses uniform finally completed. 🥰 With München DRK patch, original period buttons and made from a period pattern. So happy this is going to a very lovely lady who will appreciate it ☺️

So been in agony last night and today with more body parts who refuse to cooperate 🤦‍♀️ but when life throws you a lemon, you take it and take a pattern from it 🤣

I'm fully drugged up now and thought while I'm sitting here healing up, I'll make a pattern for an M43 cap. Yes, all those who have asked me for M43 caps, I WILL be making them. ☺️👍

Worked on my Luftwaffe helferin great coat this evening. I had to put this project on hold as my hands weren't cooperating and then I was poorly for a bit, but my mojo has come back and hopefully my hands will continue to work with me and not against me 🤦‍♀️😅

Sewing the pockets on this beauty, the patch pockets on the Luftwaffe helferin greatcoats are really quite striking looking.

The first photo is of an original Luftwaffe helferin coat pocket detail.

This is my other page about my Bereiterin impression. I often sew things for Harriet to use for that display as you can't just walk into a tack shop and ask for a ear bonnet made from zelt material 😂

This is a copy of a Waffen stamped girth pad we're making....

Exciting news! A dear friend will be helping me sew. She is new to reenactment but has an interest in vintage sewing so will be helping me to take the burden off my achy hands.

So everyone please say welcome to Alex 🥰

Also finished the cuffs on my friend's smock. They were stretched out so put new elastic in the cuffs. It's now ready for next season!

Sorry for the quietness here, I have been busy with Reenactment events. Unfortunately, I'm having to take a break from sewing for now as the arthritis in my hands is acting up at the moment. It's been getting progressively worse the past few months and even just brushing the side of my hand next to my leg can put my hand in agony. I will still make things but can only do it at a pace my hands will allow so commissions will be very very limited for now. I can still take on uniform badging requests. Please message me with any questions.

My head and heart are willing but my hands are just being plain awkward!!!

Just about recuperated from this weekend's fabulous event at Stonehurst Farm 1940s Weekend 😊 The noise reducing ear bonnet worked a treat and my M44 was VERY comfy to ride in and has given me some ideas..... 🤩🐴 My bestie was pleased with the rebadging of his tunic too so it was all good except for when Harriet refused to come home.

I'm at Bottisham at War - 1940s Event on Saturday promenading only so if you see me walking around, grab me and say hi. I'm bringing my field sewing kit in the car if anyone needs a quick fix! I'll probably be in my Norwegian SS Frontsøster uniform. Then I'm at Military Oddessey the whole weekend after helping my friend on her trade stand and shopping 😂 so will be available all weekend for repairs. I might bring my treadle sewing machine too for bigger repairs.

Photos by Michael Cokien, Gary Marvin Photography and me! 😁

Something fun! :D A "Splinter camo" ear bonnet. I made a cover for Harriet's noise reducing ear bonnet so I can use it this weekend when we do our Bereiterin display. There will be a skirmish at the event with loud noises so this helps reduce the sound and the camo fabric just makes it a little less modern looking. The Wehrmacht did have ear bonnets for the cavalry horses during the war which were made from a tan or natural coloured canvas or linen which protected against flies (ear bonnets for horses have been around since the Victorian era as well) but I think the soldiers would have liked this noise reducing one even more especially in the cool pattern 😊

Some sewing projects I did at Harborough at War. My friend needed his field grey insulin case finishing off so that it could be part of his kit without being obvious. Then another tunic needed a rather large hole darning when his award tore the fabric. I added award loops so that this didn't happen again. Then I rebadged my bestie's SS tunic and started making a "splinter camo" style fabric ear bonnet for my horse 🤣
