The nuances of working with wholesale flower suppliers👇

Oksana, the chief florist of Lacy Bird is here👋 A common question I get from students is how to choose a wholesale supplier in your city? First step is to google what flower bases are in your city and region, find out their addresses and opening hours. Go to the locations and examine. Calmly walk around, look: pay attention to price tags, storage conditions for flowers, a variety of flower types.

You will get to know the supplier personally, the range they offer and prices. Next, select the desired items, check the quality, conclude a contract and pay. Pay attention to every little thing. Believe me, it is best to ask five times “Will it be exactly this variety and exactly at this price?”.

In our experience, you need to have several wholesale suppliers. Some specialize in the classic assortment, while others specialize in more exotic positions. Choose from 2 to 3 suppliers and cooperate with them.

❓Is applying color theory important in floristry?
This is the question we get asked a lot. Many rely on intuition when choosing the colors for floral arrangements. In reality, as in most visual art forms, the proper use of colors is vital in floristry. Color carries the first impression and general emotion of any piece. It causes the strongest response from your clients.

❗️For florists, the knowledge of color theory is an essential tool and the key to solving a lot of challenges:

- competent selection of flowers for purchase according to color schemes and compatibility of shades
- an ability to expand the range of bouquets by creating surprising and appealing color combination
- an opportunity for creative expression, that helps you make informed choices of color range and accents

Hanging amaryllis upside-down: why and how🤔👇
Amaryllis usually arrives in bud form. These flower buds require 2 days in room temperature to open. Sometimes we need to use them right away, so we use a few methods to help them open faster:

• Fill the stems of amaryllis with water
• Tie the ends of stems with anchor tape to prevent breakage
• Hang the flowers upside down
• Leave amaryllis to open for 5 hours.
