🎃👻 Get ready for a day filled with Halloween fun in Cass County! Here are two Halloween events happening today, Saturday, October 19th, 2024!

✨ Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular at Jennie Marr Dunaway Park, Virginia:
🕗 8 AM - 12 PM: Art in the Park Contest & Jack-o-Lantern Carving Contest (pumpkin drop-off)
🎉 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Halloween Parade
🌙 7:00 PM - 10 PM: Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular. Enjoy crafts, games, delicious food, awesome vendors, photo ops, Park After Dark, a spookwalk, and “Witches at the Cabins”!

👻 Boo Bash! at Roy Robert's Park, Beardstown:
🕐 1 PM - 3 PM: Join the Beardstown Park District for games, prizes, and candy, along with hayrack rides! Come in your costumes for a fun-filled, spooky adventure around the park!

‘Twas the night before the Spooktacular, when all through the town,
Every creature was stirring, especially even the hounds.
The Jack-O-Lanterns were lit by the trail with tea light candles
In hopes that Jack Skeleton will soon be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of skeletons danced in their heads.

🎃 Halloween fun is rolling into Cass County! Get ready for some spook-tacular fun at the Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular hosted by the Jennie Marr Dunaway Memorial Park Board in Virginia, Illinois! This is the perfect way to soak in the spooky season with family and friends. 🎉

🖌️ Art in the Park Contest: 8AM-12PM
🎃 Jack-O-Lantern Carving Contest (Pumpkin Drop Off): 8AM-12PM

🎟️Wristbands go on sale October 1, 2024. These can be purchased at Petefish Skiles & Co. Bank in Virginia or by a park board member. Wristbands are required for the Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular as this is a fundraiser to continue to make improvements to the Virginia Public Pool.

To the parade participants;

Hi everyone! Thanks for signing up for this years Spooktacular parade. The parade this year will start at 6:30pm. We will meet at the Cass county health department at 6:00pm, and we will line up in a first come basis.

When you pull into the health department, please line up in a fashion so we can exit moving north up Main Street and moving around the square eventually leading back to the park at the end of the route.

We want to give a HUGE thank you to the Carpenter Family!

This event is strictly volunteer work, and this family continues to accept the responsibility of taking charge of this spookwalk.

They have been working hard behind the scenes on some new additions and letting their creativity flow.

Here is a little sneak peek of some of the projects they are putting together. We also want spookwalk attendees to know that it is extra spooky this year. 😉

You can bypass the spookwalk with younger children if you wish by taking the path less chosen.

Let the countdown begin!

4 more days till the big day, here is a couple reminders.

Be sure to grab your wristbands from one of the park board members or stop by Petefish & Skiles Co. Bank in Virginia to purchase your wristbands for quick access to the event.

If you do not purchase wristbands ahead of time you will be able to purchase wristbands that evening at the admission tent. Anyone over the age of 2 will require a wristband.

If you are interested in being apart of the parade we have posted the link in comments, get signed up and show us your spooky ride. 🧡 The parade will be Saturday at 6:30! Line up starts at 6.

We will have the pumpkin carving contest drop off Saturday morning from 8am-12pm, be sure to have your name and number on the pumpkin you are entering. Winner will be announced at 12:30pm. The pumpkins will be remain at the park to showcase that evening. Feel free to grab your pumpkin Sunday morning.

Art in the park will be from 8am-12pm, bring your chalk and make a Halloween masterpiece for a chance to bring home a trophy!

We will have the following going on at Jennie Marr Dunaway Memorial Park from 7pm-10pm

We are excited to welcome our Vendors to the 2024 Jack-O-Lantern Spooktacular!

Be sure to stop and purchase some fresh baked goodies, add a candle or wax melt melt to your purchase list, then have a psychic reading completed, why not get your face painted, and have a little shopping binge on some new home decor!

We have it all this year, and we can’t wait to see you all October 19,2024 starting at 7pm, following the Halloween parade!
