Let’s give a warm Dawson City to welcome to Saphire! She debuts tonight as Miss Diamond Tooth Gertie! Be ready to be blown away!

Saphire is a Toronto based artist who has worked on a wide range of shows all over Canada, the U.S and the Caribbean. After coming off of a successful run of Rock of Ages at the Elgin Theatre in Toronto she is so thrilled to be spending her summer in gorgeous Dawson City playing this iconic role. Some of her favourite credits include Tracey Turnblad in Hairspray the Musical (Theatre Aquarius), Janet in The Rocky Horror Show (Neptune Theatre), Ursula in The Little Mermaid (The LOT) & Rizzo in Grease the Musical (SCC). She is very grateful for this incredible cast, creative team and community who have welcomed her with open arms. “Let’s keep this party rollin’ while the midnight sun burns bright”.

Announcement:

Tonight was to be the incredible Amy Soloway’s final performance at Diamond Tooth Gerties.

Unfortunately due to illness she is unable to perform tonight.

We want to give a huge shout out to Amy for her many years of lighting up the Gertie’s stage and all the incredible performances she has given and memories made with visitors and locals alike. We wish Amy all the best in her future endeavours and can’t wait to see where her talents land her next.

Tonight audiences will be delighted by our swing Gertie, Franny Milner, who has been charming audiences on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this year.

We hope you will come out and show her some love and have a fantastic evening at Diamond Tooth Gerties!

We’re about 1 month away from opening which means A LOT is happening around here!

🎪We’ve had our set /designer and builder up here getting our stage ready

💃Checked in with on the costume progress- the can can skirts are all coming along and looking fabulous

🩰 Choreography has started- the notebook is filling up with ballchanges and pirouettes

📦 Packages are arriving with costume pieces, props, shoes, apartment supplies and more!

We hope to keep you updated a little more now that there are more tangible things to photography- our computer screens have not been the more interesting content to show off!

Want to be involved in the Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall shows this summer?

How about working backstage as a stagehand?

You will be in charge of setting up props and set pieces, opening and closing the curtains, helping out the performers, and taking charge of cast photos with visitors after the shows.

Your work night is only from about 7:45pm 12:45am, so plenty of time to take on another job or enjoy Dawson City.

Staff accommodation is available, please inquire.

Congratulations to KareVan Production's CoFounder Karen Murray! She will be presented with a Heritage Award!

Who is KareVan?

KareVan was founded by Karen Murray and Vanessa Engel, with the intention of creating spectacular entertainment in the Yukon.

Karen and Vanessa met over 10 years ago, when Karen was a dancer at TDC Entertainment in Toronto. TDC Entertainment is owned by Vanessa and has been in business for over 20 years with an excellent reputation for providing clients custom entertainment and creative show productions. TDC Entertainment has worked for clients such as WestJet, CocaCola, Dilawri Group and Honda. They have a roster of over 20 performers , most who have worked with Vanessa for over 10 years. TDC continues to be the leader in live entertainment in Toronto.

Karen started dancing in the Diamond Tooth Gerties show in Dawson City in 2013 and when it was announced that long time entertainment producer Terrie Turai would be retiring from the Gertie’s entertainment, Karen called Vanessa to see if she would want to team up and produce the show.

We came up with KareVan Productions to continue to bring great entertainment to the Gertie’s stage, and also provide entertainment for meetings and events Yukon wide.

We’re excited about all the possibilities this coming year, starting with the Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Show. Follow along as we embark on this incredible adventure!

As we embark on this exciting new creative venture, we can’t help but honour the woman and the company who spent 25 years creating incredible entertainment at Diamond Tooth Gerties!

One of our founders, Karen Murray was brought up to Dawson City by Terrie Turai to dance in the shows, and it was a life changing experience! Now 10 years later, It seems only natural that she is part of the team carrying on Terrie’s legacy.

So here’s a big shout out to Terrie, thank you for setting the stage for spectacular entertainment at Diamond Tooth Gerties, and for all her incredible support during this transition!
