Most People Look At Love As Something You Get When You Do Something For Them. Most People Think Love Is An Exchange. That's Why Relationships Don't Last. Because When We Stop Doing Things For Those People. They Get Angry & Leave Us. When You Stop Buying Her Clothes. When You Stop Giving Him S*x. When You Stop Sending Her Money. They Get Angry & The Love Is Over. This Is What People Today Think Love Is. But Love Is Not Like That. Love Is Not An Exchange. Love Is Giving. Your Mother Loves You. i spent my life trying to explain how i want to be loved until i didn't love myself too. i thought there was something wrong with me. i argued that i am made of water so my past lovers thought if i'm made of water then it's okay to drown me in the belly of myself. a dead fish inside a pond. yes, sometimes you're your own enemy choking on your own laugh. sometimes we spend our whole lives looking for love yet we don't even know what it looks like. i spent my life trying to explain what my name means but what good is a name if no one even calls it right? i have written so many words but i have said nothing. every day is a funeral here, they shove dirt on my mouth but no one says a prayer because silence is enough sometimes. there's no mourning for us, no such thing as heartbreak. damn right i am an angry black boy, i hate being alive but don't call me dead yet.

I once lost out on a beautiful prospect Lady because of a female bestie. My female bestie had moved out of the hood; she was living in town with her man and they had a baby. She came to the hood with her baby and decided to check up on me. We did that whole thing of catching up and stuff. Then I walked her to the taxis. I was carrying her bag which had nappies and stuff. A taxi came by, so we hugged to say our goodbyes and s**t. I waited for her to board the taxi so that I could give her the bag. And then, I lifted my head... Right there inside the taxi, was a girl that I was in the talking stages with. It was all coming together. We were on the verge of establishing a relationship. Until that moment.. We made eye contact and exchanged greetings, but I could see that she wasn't okay.She was obviously on her way to town or somewhere, and she saw me with what looked like my family. She assumed that the female bestie was my baby mama.I didn't even have a baby yet.She sent a WhatsApp text as soon as the taxi went off. She told me to stop contacting her. And then I did the exact opposite because I contacted her immediately. She ignored the call. She later called and I tried to explain but it made matters worse.
Because the more I tried to exclude myself from my friend and her baby, was the more I appeared as a deadbeat father and a cheating baby daddy.It was a mess. She went on a long rant about jerks on Facebook just before she blocked me. And this is one of the many reasons I only allocate my female friends only one hour per three years now.

if i could write you now, would i tell you about about the times we talked about nuclear wars or the way you touched my body in a way that no other could? like my whole body is exploding? would i tell you about about how it kills me every night that we don't talk anymore, every time we talk there are bullets flying from one mouth to another heart? would i tell you how i have failed to replace you even long after you told me we will never be together? if i could write you now, would i tell you about the times where i stopped everyone i met on the street and showed them your photo "have you seen her?". would i tell you about how i used to stalk you online and it would break me to see how happier you are without me? i could set the table with plates and serve you with memories that i have and wish i could've had with her. the memory that i have held onto most is when we laid in the street, midnight and we just rewrote our infinity. sometimes i listen to death bed and i think about the first time you found out how badly sick i am and we cried that whole night. i remember how we promised each other nine years, how i jumped into your arms every time your dogs barked at me, how we made popcorns and read penpal until morning. if i could write you now would i tell you about how i badly want to text you and ask how you're doing but every time we try to talk, it just turns into war. i called your phone last night but it went straight to voicemail, you don't answer my calls anymore. sometimes i look at you loving someone else and wonder why you couldn't love me like that. you look happier than you were with me or maybe i'm just overthinking. i stop and wonder if you ever give her excuses like you did to me, wonder if you ever feel an ounce of guilt for breaking me, us. wonder if you easily let her in, let her touch you in places you never wanted me to touch, wonder if you ever look at her the way you looked at me.

at first you think it's just a lack of motivation to do anything and you ignore the alarm, stay in bed the whole day like you're six feet sinking under the mud. you wake up tired and you convince yourself that you didn't get a proper sleep. at first you think the grocery store seems far than usual, you stop eating much to not eating at all. it reaches that point where you go to the bread aisle and you break down for absolutely no reason and you beat yourself up because it's pathetic to let people see you that weak. at first you think you're just lazy to fold your pile of clothes until the mess in your room hides you from the world and that comforts you. at first you think you're supposed to choke on the words "i'm fine" because that's how you should answer when someone asks you how are you. it reaches a point where you don't want anyone asking you how you're doing because somehow that always takes you back to how you're actually doing nothing with your life. at first you outgrow doing the things you love and you stop doing anything at all. at first you think you're supposed to be happy because you've got everything you want so you're supposed to be happy but you can't stop asking yourself why do you feel so empty. depression is more like you're blowing air into a ballon and all of a sudden, the very same ballon is sucking the life out of you.
