Putting the finishing touches on designs for our Fall and Winter events, and placing orders for each and every stem…so much behind the scenes paperwork and planning goes into each one…coordinating with other vendors, collaborating with planners on linen colors and table design…But we’re almost to the good part!

There will be no more good captions here, people. My kids are starting school on two different schedules, in different places, with different sports, and I’m clinging to my day planner for dear life. (How do you do it with more than 2 kids?? At least we’re a 2 parent house so we can run in different directions). Here’s a pic of my clean studio that is currently very false advertising 😬

Don’t know! 📣 Is it a heat index of 100 which will make me very grumpy? Yes! Will I be carrying an umbrella ☂ like a parasol to protect my old, pale skin? Yes! 🤸♀️

Happy Friday, everyone! We get asked a lot about how to make cut flowers last longer, and why some don’t last as long as others…and while there’s a few helpful tips to prolong stem life, the short answer is:
*Flowers are living things, the second they are cut from the ground they become dying things, and like all things in nature they can be unpredictable*
As a general rule, the more costly & delicate a flower is, the shorter it’s vase life. We love to use these types of flowers in our arrangements because of their beauty and uniqueness, but they’ll never last as long as a carnation or a lily. We want to give you an experience with flowers you typically can’t find on every store corner, but it comes with a trade-off…Just like rainbows and sunsets, the most beautiful things in nature are usually the things that come and go the quickest. Carnations can last up to 3 weeks with water changes and care. An oriental Lily can make it 2 weeks. An English garden rose? maybe 4-5 days once fully open. And not that there’s anything wrong with a Lily!They’re just a different style than a Marigold arrangement. Thank goodness there’s all kinds of florists for all kinds of people 😊
Tips for all cut flowers:
-no leaves below the water line! Naked stems ONLY to prevent bacterial growth.
-keep away from bright sunny windows and air drafts
-tip out and change all the water every 2 days.
-remove the flowers as they wilt, to keep the longer lasting varieties healthy!

So many pretty babes have gone out lately! We keep our options streamlined and simple…choose from 3 sizes and 2 color palettes. Then we choose the freshest, prettiest stems from our local farm partners and sources to make something perfectly unique. Every arrangement is different and special, since crops and seasons are constantly changing. So You won’t find a dozen red roses, because we think you can do better than that 😉.

Some flower tips today!
*This is the biggest mistake I see people do: NO leaves or petals below the water line! Clean stems only! Nothing will cause bacteria to form faster than soggy leaves and murky water.
*your vase doesn’t need as much water as you’re probably putting in there! Flowers really just want to have their feet and ankles wet… Nothing above the knees😉. Halfway filled is plenty, and tip out that water every few days and add fresh water.
* every flower has a different vase life, some will last longer than others. Keeping ones in as they start to wilt, will make ALL the flowers die faster! Pull those stems out as they get tired, and put the remaining flowers in a smaller vessel if needed.

It’s been a bit since I’ve said Hello!
I’m Bri, and my husband and I are the team behind Marigold.
We have two girls, two dogs, and two cats, and I have at least two coffees everyday 🙃. We focus on weddings and events, with gift delivery options available as time allows.
I’m grateful for a God who loves me despite my flaws, and feel lucky to have a job where I’m surrounded by His beautiful creation everyday 🌿.
We’ve had a pink front door at every house we’ve lived in, and you’re welcome to stop by for 5 minutes, but then you’ve gotta go because 😬
My life isn’t complete without at least one dachshund in it 🐶, and if something ever happens to my husband, he knows I will fill the void immediately with 5 more.
I could eat Mexican food every day, and hope I always stay living 5 minutes from the water.
