What is the meaning and origin of Areytos?
The areyto (or areíto) was a ceremonial act that was believed to narrate and honor the heroic deeds of Taíno ancestors, chiefs, gods, and cemis. Areytos involved lyrics, dance performance, music and choreography and were often accompanied by varied instrumentation. They were performed in the central plazas of the villages and were attended by the local community members as well as members of neighboring communities.
Who’s behind Areytos Experiences?
A group of young heart-open entrepreneurs committed to make Puerto Rico a fun and sexy cultural hub.
What to expect:
During 2020 we will deploy a platform of events to bring our community together and celebrate life through music, dancing and other artistic expressions.
Why are we doing this?
Puerto Rico has the potential to become a cultural hub for the Americas in the 21st century. There is a need to design experiences and create containers to bring key members of our community together and celebrate life. By bringing together local talent with hundreds of entrepreneurs and forward thinkers that are moving to Puerto Rico, we will celebrate life, create culture and promote our island.
When is the first event?
Our first event will be JUNGLA COSMICA and will take place next Saturday 3.7.20 at Vivo Beach Club (back corredor by the beach - not main stage area). Music starts at 4pm and goes until midnight.
