*** SHARED & RESHARING***
Good Afternoon. I hope you are doing well and preparing for Hurricane Milton. As we do not know the direct impact in our county at this time, I wanted to reach out and offer some tips for preparing as well as the SLC emergency shelter information. As safety is top priority, please feel free to reach out to if you would like to develop a safety plan around your situation.
Here are some items to prepare for a hurricane:
• Food and water: Have at least three days of non-perishable food and one gallon of water per person. Include family favorites, like whole grains, pasta, rice, canned items, and lower-sugar snacks.
• Medical supplies: Have a first aid kit and any medications you or your family may need, including prescription drugs, insulin, and heart and high blood pressure medication.
• Communication: Have a battery-powered or hand crank radio, a NOAA Weather Radio, and a portable phone charger. Also, write down important phone numbers in your wallet and designate an out-of-town contact.
• Safety items: Have a flashlight, whistle, matches, and a multi-purpose tool.
• Personal care items: Have disposable plates, cups, utensils, paper towels, and toilet paper. Also include insect repellent and sunscreen.
• Pet supplies: Have enough food, medication, and supplies for your pets for a few days.
• Documentation: Keep personal, financial, and medical records safe in waterproof containers.
You can also prepare your home for a hurricane by securing outdoor items, anchoring objects that shouldn't be brought inside, and trimming or removing trees that could fall on your home.
