So the best thing we’ve done so far is making a kind of stepping stone path across the garden. She loves it plus she doesn’t get her feet mucky on the grass.

People making out of play dough this morning and Peppa pig characters stuck in ice this afternoon. Yesterday was moon sand and water play. Moon sand is awesome you can make your own easily! Just flour and oil and mix together.

Here’s some great pics of Messy Play last week. I’m a little sad it is the last one for a little while but feel that I need to protect our family. My husband and daughter both have asthma and feel a bit more at risk because of this. So I’m being careful, lots of country and woodland walks and limiting the amount of times we have to go to the shops. I tried to get an online shop but the earliest I could get was 1st April and I tried all of them!!

So I’m going to help you guys who are also trying to be careful with some great ideas for activities to do indoors and in the garden!

The yoghurt painting was so popular last week, so we're going to have a painting section every week. This time the paint is going to be cornflour mixed with food colouring. I try and make all my activities edible so if it does go in the mouth it doesn't matter!

So tomorrow is our first MESSY play session and I’m so excited! I’ve been making coloured spaghetti, slime jelly and flour moon sand all morning. We’ve also got cereal building site, muddy chocolate farm and dollies bath time!

You can still book on, we have some spaces left.

So yesterday we tried painting with coloured yoghurt. It was a success! Anna managed to paint a couple of pictures however she just wanted to eat all the paint as she said it was too yummy. I’m pretty sure if I’d given Anna a bowl of plain yogurt she wouldn’t have eaten it!! 🤷‍♀️

So edible yoghurt paint will be at our Messy Session on Thursday. Hooray!

So yesterday we played with Chocolate Mud and today is Jelly Slime. Anna has loved the Jelly Slime today. Burying frogs and pouring jelly drinks for snakes!

All this will be at our first session in nearly 2 weeks but on a bigger scale!!

Hey guys so here’s a bit about Messy Play and it’s benefits.

1. Helps with gross and fine motor skills (picking up small things and manipulating things)
2. Hand eye coordination
3. Problem Solving
4. Concentration and attention skills
5. Extends vocabulary
6. Understanding materials
7. Creativity
8. Learning about colour, shape and texture
9. Getting messy without grown ups worrying about clearing up!!!

Messy play doesn’t have a right or wrong way to play with it. There are no restrictions and children can play without the stress of achieving something.

So book on to our Messy Play sessions!

Me and Anna have spent this week perfecting our play dough. We’ve tried a chocolate one and a marshmallow one.
Anna’s favourite one is the chocolate. But we have a couple more to try.

Thanks everyone for following and showing interest in my MESSY PLAY sessions. I'm super excited about creating some awesome tuff tray activities!

Just a boring bit about me, my name is Heidi. I grew up in Flitwick and after school did a course in Early Years allowing me to work as a nursery nurse. After working as a nursery nurse for a while I met my husband and we moved to Stilton, Cambridgeshire where I decided to become a Childminder and was happy doing that for about 10 years. I wanted my own children and to move back closer to family so here I am. We live in Maulden with a now 3 year old girl, Anna. Its been time to go back to work for a while and didn't want to put Anna in full time childcare while I earned peanuts, so I thought I'd try something flexible while using my Childcare knowledge.

Please share my page to your friends and book on to the sessions using the ticket links on my page. I'm doing a session every week at Maulden Village Hall (apart from school holidays) so if you can't make it to the first session there are plenty more to choose from.
