PHASE (2) LIGHT CONTACT STARTS WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2020.

BJJ and STRIKING BASED TRAINING (SBT) PROGRAM (Training Dummy; Target-Mitts and Kicking Pads)

Our BJJ and SBT classes provides an introduction to technical striking geared towards the beginner or intermediate student and will teach you how to develop footwork, coordination, timing and balanced movements on your feet while also sharpening technique.

VT BJJ instructors will also cover range of defense and striking strategy as it applies to Self-Defense (Strikes, Kicks, Clinch and Takedowns drills) and Combat-Style Martial Arts.

Required Gear: Boxing Gloves
Recommended Gear: Jump Rope and Shin/Foot Pads.

VT BJJ will hold practice sessions limited to no and low contact physical conditioning and skill building drills. Until further notice, full-contact scrimmages will not be allowed. When athletes are not actively participating in practice, appropriate physical distancing should be maintained.

The following guidance is based on information provided by the VT Dept. of Health; and is focused on safeguarding student and staff health while operating in-person instruction and we expect this guidance may be updated as new information becomes available.

All staff and students are required to wear facial coverings while in the building. They must also wear them when outside of the building if adequate physical distancing cannot be maintained.

Vermont Department of Health Guidelines
1. Stay home when sick or symptomatic (with fever, cough and/or shortness of breath).
2.All students must have made reservations to attend classes.
3.Social distancing MUST be practiced.
4.Masks are required.
5.The training areas will be marked off with 6-9’ distancing between them.
6.Each student/instructor must bring their own training equipment.
7.We will promote outdoor training whenever it’s possible.
8.Come dressed accordingly (Kimono or Shorts and t-shirt).
9.Plan to use the restroom prior to your arrival to the school.
10.Require an “arrive, play and leave” mentality.

VT BJJ KIDS CORONAVIRUS CLASS

The learning begins with the development of the correct attitude toward the gym where the classes are conducted; the gym is the place of student’s development, and therefore it has to be kept clean and tidy.

During the class, the student must not make much noise, divert the attention of others, or do anything without the command of the instructor. By following these rules, children learn to control their emotions and actions.

The students begin their training in a standing position or sitting in student posture followed by the warm-up. Warm-up consists of movements, exercises and coordination drills.

A special part of class dynamics is dedicated to basic technical actions, includes movements, punches, kicks, blocks, and attacks. Everyone in young age wants to become strong and confident in themselves and learning the technique helps to develop confidence, diligence and persistence.

These qualities will be helpful to children not only during the classes but in everyday life as well.

Martial arts can help to solve the tasks of raising children as harmonious, wholly developed individuals, to lay the foundation of morality, health, and spirituality in them.

VT BJJ TRAINING CONDITIONS, GUIDELINES and CLASSES SCHEDULE (please read)

After receiving a myriad of emails and phone calls from Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from MA, NY, CT, VA and NH; I would like to stress the #1 Condition and Guideline set forth below by the VT Dept of Health State Outdoor Recreation Businesses, Facilities and Organizations:

“BJJ Training and Conditioning Classes is only open to Vermonters and those who have met the 14-day quarantine requirement. Out of state visitors need to wait a 14 days-period before joining our programs”.

Patience and Discipline!

VT BJJ Conditioning and the “Training Dummy” Classes

BJJ Conditioning (Calisthenics; "Ginastica Natural"; Boxing/Kickboxing Drills & Skills; Takedowns Drills and Burpees; Flexibility Exercises & Cardio-Respiratory Endurance) is a very important part of the BJJ training and the foundation of health and strength! Get strong and confident naturally!

The “Training Dummy”; we practice a lot of Jiu-Jitsu with our training "Dummy"! Chokes, Arm-bars, Guard (Scissors, Open and Closed, etc.); Knee on the Belly; Side-Control; Holding Techniques and coordination drills. How to build your training dummy? You will need the kimono jacket and the belt (upper body part of your kimono); 2 towels and 2 pillows or a Yoga mat. That's all!

Please find below information about our VT BJJ training protocols and temporary classes schedule.

BEFORE TRAINING STARTS
*Stay home when sick or symptomatic (with fever, cough and/or shortness of breath).
*Please arrive at the school 15 minutes before class scheduled time.
*We will promote outdoor training whenever it’s possible.
*Restrict access to training sessions for students only. It is prohibited spectators and visitors watching the class.
* Remove your shoes and leave them at the door. We will provide disinfecting upon entrance at the entry-door for shoes of all students.
*We will check the temperature of everyone who enters the gym. We will use a non-contact thermometer to check your temperature before entering the school.
*We will implement protocol with respect to the social distancing guidelines.
*Come dressed accordingly (Shorts and t-shirt). We will avoid the use of changing rooms.
*Plan to use the restroom prior to your arrival to the school.
*All athletes and instructors should have a beach towel or yoga mat; their own bottle of water and must not share with others.
*Students should have their own training gear; no sharing training equipment.
*Require an “arrive, play and leave” mentality. Groups may not gather before or after activities (no tailgating, etc.).

HYGIENE AND SAFETY
*We will provide sanitizer stations for student and instructors.
*Each student / teacher must bring their personal disinfectant and protection material (hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol, towel and personal protective mask) and must not share.
*No more hand-shakes (for a period of time)
*All training equipment will be cleaned and disinfected before and after each training session.
*We will no longer keep any training gear or personal items (Lost & Found). No Exceptions.

CLASSES INFORMATION
*Our hours of Operation will be limited.
*We will diversify class schedules to distribute students and avoid crowds by limiting each class time to (30 minutes).
*We will promote outdoor training whenever it’s possible.
*Students will work on calisthenics; plyometrics and conditioning; coordination drills and shadow boxing with no live “rolling” until the Pandemic has passed so we can operate safely.
*The VT Dept of Health recommends small gatherings (10 People) including instructor.

We are thrilled to receive word from the Governor today that we can reopen our facilities on June 1. In an effort to assure that our teams are fully prepared to welcome you back safely, we have set Wednesday, June 3rd as our reopening date for our outdoor session training classes (June 1 - June 6); see classes schedule below.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends we all take sensible steps to protect ourselves and others. You acknowledge that you are responsible for safeguarding yourself; your instructors; other students and parents. With that in mind, we have put together the information below as guideline to help you navigate the reopening process and keep everyone SAFE!
