This year's annual excursion to the mountains to Get our tree became an exercise in empathy and kindness, as we sought to channel our resources toward those who were truly in need and would appreciate our business. We made it a point to visit Kirk at the Burnette County store, who kindly directed us toward Junior Thomason, whose picturesque town of Pensacola, NC, had been ravaged by calamity, resulting in the destruction of his residence and one of his tree lots. Let us strive to support local entrepreneurs wherever possible!

Just a few takeaways from our two trips to western NC: First trip to Spruce Pine, second trip to Bat Cave. There's still much to be done to get these people back to their normal lives. Local people, fire departments (mostly volunteers), and local churches are doing all the work. Linemen have worked hard to restore power to many! Samaritan's Purse has been helpful, but there's still much to do. Where is our government help and funding for these people and volunteers who have uprooted their lives and spent their money and equipment to help? Why isn't our government helping? Because the government doesn't support us anymore; we support the government. The great people of this country are making things happen, funding each other through fundraisers to send help, and sending massive supplies so people don't go without. Locals have taken on ensuring everyone in their communities is okay and gets what they need. There's so much that we, as people, are doing, and so little that the government is doing, which opens your eyes to the importance of the people closest to you. Thank you to all That supported us on this Journey There is no way we could have showed up and loved on every one without your help!!!

The people of western North Carolina, specifically those in Spruce Pine, have left an enduring impression on me. Their memory stays with me, and I am continually reminded of the many families still in need of assistance. The sight of children's faces lighting up over a simple meal, such as mac and cheese, brings me both lasting joy and sorrow, as I comprehend the struggles of parents unable to provide even the most fundamental necessities for their families. I have another place in the works to go help please keep the next place in your thoughts and prayers as I work out some details so that we can make another Huge impact on them as well!!!!

I woke up this morning feeling sore and tired, but also a little sad that I wasn't waking up to a smoker full of food to feed everyone, like the past two days, which I will never forget. It's making me want to take another trip back up there. I'm still going through pictures and videos, but here's another preview!
